About me and my therapy practice
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship – a space where you can feel safe, seen, and supported to explore whatever is arising for you. I offer a warm, collaborative presence, meeting you with openness, curiosity, and respect.
Life can feel overwhelming at times. You might be navigating anxiety, health challenges, relationship issues, trauma, loss, identity questions, or a deeper sense of meaninglessness or disconnection. Perhaps you're feeling stuck or in the midst of a life transition, longing for change. Whatever brings you here, I offer a warm, grounded, and non-judgemental space where we can explore your experience together, at your pace.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a range of approaches – including existential, humanistic, and relational perspectives – to support you in making sense of your experience.
I also work as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner supporting people in moments of acute distress and uncertainty. This role continues to deepen my ability to sit alongside pain and complexity, and to offer a steady, grounded presence when life feels overwhelming.
The immediacy of crisis work continually informs my private practice. Through this work, I have also undertaken extensive training—including Adult Safeguarding (Level 3), ASIST suicide intervention training, and Domestic Abuse awareness and support.
Working with the Body
My work as a Pilates teacher has shown me how deeply our bodies carry our stories. In my counselling practice, I integrate this understanding by using approaches such as Focusing, which honour the body’s wisdom. I am particularly interested in how trauma and life experience are held not just in the mind but also in the body, and how gentle, embodied attention can open the way to healing and integration.
Working with Nature
For ten years, I worked as a Forest School Teacher in the field of nature connection, supporting people of all ages—from young children to elders. Over this time, I trained extensively in eco-therapy and nature-based practices.
I offer walk-and-talk therapy on private land near Charmouth. I believe the natural environment can provide a unique form of support, offering holding, and reflection. Using the natural world as a mirror for our inner life can create a contemplative space for self-discovery, strengthening self-awareness, and fostering personal growth through connection to the here and now of our embodied experience.
Bereavement and Loss
I facilitate a monthly bereavement group at the Harmony Centre in Bridport. I have undertaken specialist training with Cruse Bereavement Support to deepen my ability to support those navigating grief and loss.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute telephone call before we begin working together. This is an opportunity for you to share a little about what’s bringing you to counselling, and for me to explain how I work. We can explore what you need from therapy, and see whether my approach, training, and experience feel like a good fit for you.
There’s no charge for this initial call, and there’s no obligation to continue – it’s simply a chance for us both to decide if working together feels right.
