About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Sam and welcome to Samphire Counselling, I hope you find what you are looking for.
I offer a safe and supportive environment for you to explore and process your difficulties and learn new tools to navigate life.
The core of my practice is person-centred therapy, which places you—the client—at the heart of the therapeutic process. This approach is non-directive and non-judgemental, allowing you the space to explore your thoughts and feelings freely. I believe in the importance of building a trusting and collaborative relationship, where you feel safe, respected, and heard. Sometimes, I may use concepts from other approaches to help our understanding of what is going on for you.
How we work together will depend on your unique needs and what you hope to gain from our time together. I am here to facilitate a process of self-understanding, and to support you as you uncover your own solutions, insights, and ways of moving forward. My role is not to advise but to walk alongside you in your exploration. During our sessions, I will listen to you without judgement and accept you for who you are. By supporting you with care and compassion, you can gain greater insight into your life and be empowered to find a way through your distress. As a reiki practitioner I sometimes work with somatics, and how emotions can impact our bodies and our health.
I have extensive experience working with individuals facing addiction and their families, as well as those who have experienced domestic abuse. I also have a solid understanding of neurodivergence and over 10 years of experience supporting people with learning difficulties.
Practice description
I work with clients on a 1:1 basis both in person (Pool and Helston) and online.
My first session
We start with a 30 minute assessment session, with no commitment - this can be online or face to face. This is an opportunity to talk a little about what you need, get a feel for me as your therapist, and a chance for me to evaluate whether I have the skills to work with you.
By the end of the session, we will have an understanding of what you hope to achieve in therapy and will begin exploring the steps to support your healing journey.
