About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling for adults from all backgrounds, with a particular passion for supporting people whose lives have been touched by cancer. This may mean you have recently received a diagnosis, are undergoing treatment, are living with cancer as a long-term condition, are in remission, or are facing the uncertainty and anxiety of waiting for results. It may also mean you are caring for or grieving someone affected by cancer.
Cancer can be an overwhelming experience 鈥 emotionally, physically, and mentally. It can stir feelings of fear, sadness, confusion, anger, or isolation, and can sometimes make it difficult to recognise yourself or connect with others in the way you once did. You may feel pressured to 鈥渟tay strong鈥 for loved ones, even while you鈥檙e struggling inside. My role is to offer a safe, understanding space where you can bring all of your thoughts and feelings without judgement, where you can be wholly yourself.
I draw on the principles of humanistic therapy, offering warmth, openness, and honesty in the counselling relationship. This approach values your autonomy 鈥 you set the pace, and our work together is guided by what you feel ready to share and explore. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, I will walk alongside you as an ally, helping you discover your own solutions and coping strategies.
Practice description
In my counselling practice, you鈥檒l find a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges at your own pace. My role is to listen, understand your unique experiences, and work with you to uncover new perspectives and possibilities for change.
What You Can Expect From Me:
Compassion and Respect 鈥 You鈥檒l be heard and valued exactly as you are, without pressure or judgment.
A Collaborative Approach 鈥 We鈥檒l work together to set goals that feel right for you, and I鈥檒l adapt my methods to suit your needs and preferences.
Practical and Emotional Support 鈥 Whether you need coping strategies, deeper self-understanding, or simply a place to talk, I鈥檒l provide tools and insights to help you navigate life鈥檚 challenges.
Confidentiality and Safety 鈥 Your privacy and comfort are at the heart of our sessions, so you can speak freely.
Growth at Your Pace 鈥 There鈥檚 no rush; this is your time to reflect, heal, and grow in a way that feels sustainable for you.
Counselling is a journey, and every step you take鈥攏o matter how small鈥攎atters. You don鈥檛 need to have everything figured out before you start; all you need to bring is yourself.
If you鈥檙e ready, we can take that first step together.
My first session
In our very first session together, we鈥檒l take things at a gentle, comfortable pace. If you鈥檝e already completed the assessment form, I鈥檒l refer to it as a helpful starting point 鈥 but if you haven鈥檛, please don鈥檛 worry at all. We can simply explore things as we go.
This initial conversation is really about us getting to know each other. We鈥檒l spend time talking about what鈥檚 been happening for you lately, what鈥檚 led you to seek counselling now, and what you鈥檙e hoping to find or change. It鈥檚 also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work, ask any questions you might have, and see if you feel we鈥檙e a good fit to work together.
Most importantly, we鈥檒l begin to explore what matters most to you 鈥 your values, your hopes, and the areas of your life where you鈥檇 like to see more clarity or ease. My aim is to help you reconnect with your strengths, make sense of your experiences, and discover a way forward that feels not only possible, but also authentic and meaningful to you. We鈥檒l take this journey at your pace, with warmth, curiosity, and compassion.
