About me and my therapy practice
Hello there. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you unsure where to turn or how to make sense of what’s happening. You may be carrying more than you can manage, facing life’s challenges, or feeling stuck, low, or anxious.
Having a space where you can speak freely and feel listened to can make a real difference. I’m an integrative counsellor with a person-centred approach at the heart of my work, and I offer a calm, genuine presence where you can reflect and begin to understand yourself and your experiences.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked in administrative roles in colleges and universities, supporting both people and systems, and later as an adviser in the charity sector. I also volunteered with a service offering confidential listening and emotional support. These experiences have given me a grounded understanding of the many pressures people face and of how much difference it can make to be met with empathy and respect. My own experience of therapy has also shown me how valuable it can be to have a space to talk openly.
I’m interested in how people find their own understanding and sense of meaning when life feels confusing or uncertain, and how moments of connection and awareness can bring new perspectives. My work supports that kind of reflection in a safe and respectful space, where we can explore what matters most to you and how you experience and relate to the world around you. I work alongside you as you move towards a greater sense of ease in yourself.
I offer sessions in-person, by telephone, or online, and I welcome enquiries if you'd like to learn more or arrange an initial meeting.Practice description
I see counselling as a collaborative process — a partnership where we work together to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. My work is primarily person-centred, meaning you set the focus and direction of our sessions. I aim to offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk openly and begin to make sense of what’s happening for you.
When it feels helpful, I may draw on ideas from other approaches — for example, exploring patterns in your relationships, thoughts or feelings, reflecting on early experiences, or gently experimenting with new ways of being. Sometimes we might also look at how stress affects you or explore ideas that help make sense of your experiences and responses. We can work out together what feels right and useful for you. I see each person as unique, and I’ll always work with you in a way that respects your individuality and personal circumstances.
Counselling can provide a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your own thoughts and feelings. My role is to walk alongside you as we explore what matters most to you and help you find greater understanding and ease in yourself.
My first session
The first session offers a chance to meet and see how it feels to work together. We’ll talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping to explore, and how you’d like to approach the process. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work, and whether you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor.
I’ll explain how our sessions are structured, answer any questions you may have about confidentiality, and discuss any practical arrangements. There’s no need to prepare anything in advance — this is your space, and we can begin wherever you are, at your own pace.
It’s normal to feel unsure about what to expect at first, and there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. The first session is just about starting the conversation and seeing if we feel like a good fit to work together.
