About me and my therapy practice
My name is Elfie and I am an integrative, person-centred counsellor. This means that our work together is led by your needs and tailored to what feels important for you. Our sessions will go at your pace, within a space which is non-judgemental, compassionate and confidential. My practice is informed by a range of modalities, including transactional analysis, nature-connection, mindfulness, CBT and creative therapies.
People come to counselling for many reasons: to explore difficult feelings, find peace, or to understand themselves more fully. You may be feeling a bit stuck or want to develop confidence and self-esteem, or perhaps you are having difficulty with relationships. I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is a crucial foundation: being truly listened to, accepted and witnessed can be a powerful and transformative experience.
Who I work with:
I welcome anyone who may be seeking support and work with a diverse range of clients, including young people, parents, older adults and those dealing with the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life and its challenges. My recent experience includes supporting clients dealing with depression, anxiety, PMDD and chronic pain, grief, neurodiversity, cancer diagnosis, domestic abuse, sexual assault, low self-esteem, caring responsibilities, palliative care and health-related trauma.
Training:
Having previously worked in education for over 20 years, I have extensive experience working with teenagers, parents and in Early Years settings. My clinical placements during counselling training included the Student Counselling Service at Cornwall College, West Cornwall Women's Aid and the Adult Clinical Psychology Department in Critical Care at Royal Cornwall Hospital.

Practice description
I offer a warm, accepting and collaborative space where you can explore what matters most to you. I work out of a spacious garden studio at Potager gardens, near Falmouth, which has free parking, a wood-burning stove and a beautiful outdoor area. My approach is flexible and tailored to you. I offer face-to-face, telephone or online counselling, as well as outdoor walk and talk sessions.
Connection with the natural world is fundamental to my own well-being and can be part of our work together if you want it to be. Please get in touch if this is something you would like to explore.
If you feel I may be the right counsellor for you, I’d be glad to hear from you. Please reach out for a free introductory call of up to 30 minutes.
My first session
I offer a free introductory session online or on the phone of up to 30 minutes.
In this session we usually discuss the kind of work you want to do, what our sessions might look like, where they will take place and other practicalities. It is an opportunity for us both to get to know each other: there is no obligation to have a set number of sessions, we can just see what feels right.
