I work weekdays from 9am-12pm, afternoons from 1-3pm and evenings from 8-9pm. I offer sessions online and in-person in Bickley, South East London. I am due to be off work between 5th and 14th of September inclusive.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a passionate, Íø±¬ÃÅ registered counsellor, working online and in-person. I have experience working with clients with depression, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, loss and bereavement, single parenting, relationship difficulties, suicide ideation, eating disorders, and personality disorders. With close experience of people in the LGTBQIA+ community, from neurodivergent backgrounds and people with disabilities, I am passionate about working with adult clients from a diverse range of backgrounds.
I recognise that the counselling journey is often very challenging and emotional, and the experience can feel worse at first, before things improve. I will be here to listen to you, explore your issues and difficulties, sometimes challenge you but above all support you on this journey.
I work as an integrative therapist specifically an assimilative approach, with Karl Rogers’ Person Centred Therapy as my core modality, drawing on elements of Psychodynamic theory, Gestalt therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional analysis as fits my clients’ needs. I am recently qualified, and have clocked up over 200 hours experience (more than double the requirement) with nearly 2 years experience working with a wide range of clients from a large demographic. I appreciate life’s challenges, with personal experience of depression, loss and bereavement and chronic illness, and I recognise life can be immensely challenging. My goal is to help support you the best I can therapeutically in a schedule and modality that suits you.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MÍø±¬ÃÅ), and I abide by and follow the Íø±¬ÃÅ Code of Ethics and Practice (2018), which is in place to maintain the professionalism and safety of both myself and my clients.
Practice description
I offer sessions face-to-face in Park Therapy Rooms Bickley (4 Daly Dr Bromley BR1 2FF) and online. I generally book sessions a minimum of 1 week in advance for the first session but can offer the introductory call on shorter notice (48 hours).
I focus on the following within my counselling practice:
1) Individualised client-centred therapy tailored to my clients' needs.
2) Integrative modality with Person-Centred Humanist therapy at its core, drawing on other modalities as fits my clients' needs.
3) Ethical, professional and boundaried sessions following the Íø±¬ÃÅ ethical framework.
4) Creative and mindful hollistic practices are used, drawing on music, art and walk-and-talk therapy.
5) I offer a discounted phone consult with a brief assessment, and then ongoing therapy with 6 week reviews.
I am qualified up to Level 4 in Therapeutic Counselling. After a challenging time at university, I felt a pull to support people in their own mental health. After talking to many professionals, I began training as a counsellor. I love my work, and am passionate about a holistic, creative practice tailored to my clients. I recognised the important of a balance between work and leisure, mindfulness and a healthy lifestyle. I aim to continue my training at Level 7 in the next few years, and in the meantime continue to attend CPD sessions (30 hours per year) and do regular reading to stay updated.
I have also had other difficult life experiences including depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement and family members with chronic health conditions. I understand in some ways that life can be extremely unrelenting and challenging, and it's because of these experiences, and experiences of my loved ones, in addition to my training and my drive to support people that makes me a committed and passionate counsellor.
My first session
Sessions are 50 minutes long, at the same time and place weekly. Face-to-face sessions generally need to be carried out in this format and the same for online but I can accommodate a switch from face-to-face with 48 hours notice. If you are held up and arrive late, I need to finish at the original end time to respect our time and that of the next client.
Sessions costs are £40 and £35 for concessions, including unemployed, low income and pensioners. I am not currently taking on student counsellors as clients.
My first session is also 50 minutes and I offer that as a phone consultation at a discounted rate of £30. I can offer this with as little as 48 hours notice.
Cancellations - I ask for 24 hours notice for any cancelled sessions, otherwise I kindly ask that the session is honoured and covered financially, as the time is too short notice to cancel a room and/or give to another client. I can waive this in the event of a serious medical emergency involving yourself or close family.
