About me and my therapy practice
Hello!
I'm April
I'm an integrative therapist with a grounding in psychodynamic theory and a flexible approach that incorporates cognitive behavioural therapy techniques where helpful.
I have experience supporting individuals with anxiety and have worked in the NHS for five years in a 1:1 setting, delivering interventions for anxiety management. I also have experience working with survivors of sexual abuse and rape.
Practice description
Sessions take place at the same time each week and last 50 minutes. I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, depending on your needs, and we will regularly check in to reflect on your progress and direction.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you are encouraged to bring whatever is most present for you. While I am led by your process, I may offer psychoeducation to support your understanding, particularly around how our brain’s survival responses can shape our emotions and behaviours. Many clients find this normalising and grounding.
My first session
I offer a free, 40 minute initial consultation. This is a chance for us to meet, discuss what brings you to therapy, and explore what you’re hoping to gain. We will also review the counselling contract and go over any practical or emotional questions you may have about the process.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Cancer, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Life coaching, Loss, Men's issues, Neurodiversity, Post-traumatic stress, Self esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
