Availability
I currently have availability for new clients and offer both in-person and online therapy sessions. My standard working hours are:
Monday to Thursday: 7.00pm - 9.00pm
Friday: 9.00am - 6.00pm
Saturday: 9.00am to 12.00pm
I aim to be as flexible as possible and can sometimes offer early morning or evening appointments by arrangement.
Sessions are available:
In-person 鈥 at my private therapy space on the East Coast of Scotland, close to the beach and local amenities.
Online 鈥 via secure video call for clients across the UK.
For those interested in a more immersive experience, I also run occasional Inner Child Retreats from Friday to Sunday. These retreats combine therapy sessions with time to rest, reflect, and enjoy the coastal surroundings. Please enquire for upcoming retreat dates and availability.
If I need to take planned time off, such as annual leave or to run a retreat, I will always let clients know well in advance and ensure continuity of care is considered.
At present, I am able to offer appointments without a waiting list.
About me and my therapy practice
My core training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is an evidence-based approach that examines the connection between our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical sensations. Often, when we are struggling, we can find ourselves caught in patterns of thinking or behaving that feel difficult to break out of. By making sense of these patterns and gently experimenting with new ways of responding, we can start to create positive change.
Creative and Reflective Techniques
While CBT provides the foundation for my work, I often integrate creative and reflective approaches. Therapy does not have to be limited to talking. Sometimes, drawing, journaling, or metaphor can allow us to access a deeper understanding.
For example, I may invite you to:
Keep a thought diary to track patterns.
Use imagery to create a 鈥渟afe place鈥 for grounding.
Explore metaphors to represent your experiences.
Use music, writing, or visualisation as ways of connecting with feelings.
These techniques are always optional and guided by your comfort level. They are not about artistic skill but about expression, insight, and healing.
Inner Child Retreat
Many of us carry younger parts of ourselves that still hold old wounds, unmet needs, or painful memories. These 鈥渋nner child鈥 parts can show up in adult life as anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficulties in relationships. My Inner Child Retreat offers a safe, supportive space to gently reconnect with these younger parts and begin the process of healing.
The retreat takes place by the sea in a peaceful coastal location. You will stay in a self-contained cottage attached to my home, with space for up to four guests. Family members are welcome to accompany you, though the therapy remains one-to-one and private.
The retreat combines the depth of therapeutic work with the nourishment of rest, nature, and space. Many clients find that the immersive format allows them to go deeper and integrate the work more fully than weekly therapy sessions.
Practice description
Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and easy to talk to. My style is collaborative 鈥 I do not sit in silence or give you all the answers, but instead, I engage in a genuine conversation where we explore together.
You can expect:
Safety and confidentiality: a space where you are respected and supported.
Empathy and non-judgement: your experiences will be taken seriously and with compassion.
Structure and flexibility: a balance between following a plan and adapting to your needs in the moment.
Tools and strategies: practical techniques you can use outside of sessions.
Reflection and insight: opportunities to deepen your understanding of yourself.
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a partnership. You will always have choice and control in the process.
Seeking therapy can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist is important. What I offer is not a quick fix, but a journey we take together. I bring warmth, empathy, and professional knowledge, but also humanity. I see you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.
If you are struggling with anxiety, low mood, trauma, or relationship difficulties, therapy with me can help you:
Feel less alone in your struggles.
Understand yourself and your patterns more deeply.
Build resilience, confidence, and self-worth.
Heal old wounds and create space for new possibilities.
My work as a therapist is a privilege. I am continually inspired by the courage of clients who step into therapy and share their stories. Healing is rarely linear, but with support, compassion, and the right tools, change is possible.
My Values
My work is guided by values of inclusion, respect, and empowerment. I am deeply committed to creating a safe space for people from all walks of life, regardless of background, identity, or experience. I value diversity and continuously engage in learning to ensure my practice is inclusive and affirming.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy at this time. I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, so I aim to make this initial meeting as relaxed and supportive as possible.
In this session, I will ask some gentle questions to help me understand your current concerns, your background, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This forms part of an initial assessment, which guides us in deciding together how best to move forward. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with 鈥 there is no pressure to disclose everything straight away.
We will also discuss the practicalities of therapy, such as session length, frequency, fees, confidentiality, and my cancellation policy. This helps to ensure that you feel informed, safe, and comfortable before committing to ongoing sessions.
I see the first session as a two-way process: it鈥檚 not just about me learning about you, but also about you getting a feel for how I work and whether I am the right therapist for you. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have about my approach.
I charge my usual session rate for first sessions (拢50). If you are considering attending one of my bespoke retreats, we will have a pre-retreat session which will be included in the price of the full weekend retreat.
Most importantly, the first session is about beginning to build trust and creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. From there, we can decide together what the next steps look like.
