About me and my therapy practice
I’m Sam Devlin (she/her), a qualified psychodynamic therapist and registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ. I offer therapy for adults in Worthing and online.
Before training as a therapist, I spent 20+ years working in the charity sector. That experience shaped how I understand people’s lives, the challenges they face, the systems they navigate, and the quiet strength it takes to seek support.
My therapeutic approach is thoughtful, reflective, and grounded in the belief that understanding ourselves more deeply can bring about lasting change. I offer a consistent, confidential space where we can explore your inner world together and at your pace. I will work with you to understand how early experiences and relationships influence us in the present. I work with care, curiosity, and a commitment to helping clients find clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.
I have a PgDip in psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy from University of Brighton and PgDip in psychology from Monash University in Melbourne.
I am a neurodivergent-affirming therapist and welcome clients of all neurotypes. I aim to adapt therapy to meet your individual communication and processing needs.
You are welcome to get in touch to ask any questions or to arrange a free initial call.
Practice description
My therapy practice is based in Worthing, where I offer sessions in a private, purpose-built garden therapy room. The space is calm, quiet, and surrounded by greenery. It has been designed to feel comfortable and contained, offering a sense of privacy and calm from the moment you arrive.
For those who prefer or need remote support, I also offer online therapy using secure video. Whether in person or online, I aim to create a steady, thoughtful space where you can begin to explore what is happening beneath the surface of your day-to-day life.
I offer one-to-one therapy for adults, and welcome people from all backgrounds and identities. I work in a neurodivergent-affirming way and adapt my approach to suit your individual needs, pace, and way of communicating. You do not need to be in crisis or have a formal diagnosis to begin.
People come to therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, burnout, trauma, or a general sense of being lost or stuck. Some are looking to make sense of the past. Others are simply seeking a space to feel heard and understood.
Sessions are weekly and last for 50 minutes. I work both short-term and open-ended, depending on your needs. I will always be honest about what I can offer and whether I feel I am the right person to support you.
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and see how it feels to talk with me before deciding to begin.
My first session
Before booking a first therapy session, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. This is a chance for us to briefly connect, talk about what has brought you to therapy, and decide whether it feels like a good fit to work together.
If we decide to proceed, I will send you a short client questionnaire to complete before your first session. This includes some basic background information and questions about what you hope to gain from therapy. It helps me begin to understand your situation and tailor our work to your needs.
The first full session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my standard rate. During this session, we will go over your questionnaire together and begin to explore what has brought you here. You are also welcome to ask any questions you have about the process.
There is no pressure to share anything before you are ready. The aim of the first session is to get a sense of how it feels to work together, and to begin building a therapeutic relationship in a way that feels steady and respectful.
If we agree to continue, we will arrange a regular weekly session time. I offer both short-term and open-ended work, depending on your needs. We can review this together as therapy progresses.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or to arrange your free consultation call.
