About me and my therapy practice

At Lumina Counselling Kent I offer a calm, empathic space where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace, without pressure, judgement, or expectation. My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and holistic. This means I see you as a whole person, not a problem to fix, and I support your emotional, mental, and energetic well being.

I work relationally, which means I see the therapeutic relationship as central to the healing process. I aim to build trust, equality, and genuine care into our work. Alongside talking therapy, I integrate grounding techniques and, for those who wish, body-based and energy-aware practices such as breathwork, Reiki or crystal healing.

I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, grief, relationship difficulties, and emotional overwhelm. I also support neurodivergent clients and bring both personal and professional experience of neurodiversity into my practice. You’re welcome just as you are, no masking, no need to have it all figured out.

Practice description

At Lumina Counselling Kent, I offer a safe, accepting space for those seeking therapy that feels more human and less clinical. You may be feeling anxious, stuck, emotionally drained, or unsure where to begin. Perhaps you’ve had therapy before that felt too fast, too formal, or left you feeling unseen. I understand those fears, and they’ve shaped the way I work.

Therapy with me is collaborative and attuned to your pace. You’ll be met with empathy, honesty, and care. Whether you prefer reflective conversation, grounding techniques, or body-based support, everything is tailored to you.

Alongside my private practice, I volunteer with the Rising Sun Domestic Abuse Service in Canterbury, supporting women in their recovery from abuse. I’ve also worked with Rethink Mental Illness, supporting adults living with complex mental health challenges. These experiences, along with my personal and professional insight into neurodivergence, have deeply shaped my understanding of trauma, safety, and the importance of being seen for who you really are.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute consultation by phone or video call. This is a gentle space to ask questions, talk about what you're looking for, and get a sense of how it might feel to work together, there’s no pressure or obligation to continue.

If you decide to begin therapy, I’ll email you a counselling contract in advance. This outlines the practical side of the work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and session structure. We’ll talk it through together in your first full session (50 minutes, £55) and create a negotiated agreement that feels right for you.

That first session is a chance for you to begin at your own pace, there’s no expectation to share anything before you feel ready. I’ll invite you to talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you might be hoping for, and what kind of support feels most helpful.

If you're feeling very anxious or emotionally overwhelmed, some clients find it helpful to begin with a Reiki session before moving into talking therapy. This can offer a gentle starting point to regulate the nervous system, settle the body, and build trust in the therapeutic space. You're welcome to discuss this option in our consultation.

Whether we begin with conversation or calming energy work, the aim is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and gently met just as you are.
