About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you’ve been feeling low for a long time. Or maybe your anxiety feels out of control. Maybe unwanted thoughts keep coming into your mind, or you’re tired of just existing rather than really living. Has your childhood left you with difficult emotions you can’t shake off? Do you feel stuck or not sure where you’re going?
People come to counselling for all these reasons and more. Sometimes the people I work with have been struggling for years with low self-esteem or indecision. Sometimes there’s been an upheaval in their lives, and they want help getting to a safe, stable place. Or their family or other relationships bring more sadness than satisfaction. They may be struggling to cope with their feelings after someone close has died.
What brings you here, now? I’ll listen to the things that are troubling you, however difficult they are. With empathy and understanding I’ll see you as the unique person that you are – not as a list of symptoms. Together we’ll explore your ways to a happier, more peaceful, more fulfilled life.
Practice description
People come to me for help with problems like stress, anxiety and depression. I’m trained in helping people who have had a bereavement and those troubled by thoughts of suicide. I have also helped people cope with difficult family relationships, low self-esteem, and a lack of motivation and purpose.
What kind of counselling do I offer?
I take an integrative approach to counselling. This means I adapt to your needs, using the most helpful elements of different therapeutic styles. These include person-centred counselling, which recognises that you are the expert about you, and that we should follow your agenda, not mine; psychodynamic therapy, which explores how your past may be affecting your present and helps you to become aware of your unconscious feelings and beliefs; and transpersonal therapy, which addresses the cultural or spiritual or creative world in which you live.
