Hi, I’m Vicky, a humanistic therapist working primarily in a person-centred way.
For me, therapy begins with building a strong, trusting connection – one where you feel safe, supported, and free to explore your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. From my experience, I’ve found that a genuine connection is the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work, and I strive to create a warm, confidential and compassionate space where you can truly be yourself.
I work from a person-centred approach, which is based on the belief that you are the expert in your own life and experiences. Because of this, I trust in your inner resources and ability to grow and heal in the ways that feel right for you. My role as your therapist is to create a safe, empathetic, and open space where you feel heard, valued, and supported. I’ll be alongside you, listening without judgment and helping you explore whatever you choose to bring to our sessions. I will support you at your pace, adapting the flow of our sessions to suit your needs and preferences as they evolve. Whether you're seeking clarity, growth, or simply space to process what’s going on for you, I will be there alongside you without pressure or agenda.
I’ve had the privilege of working with clients from many walks of life. My particular specialisms are supporting those whose lives have been impacted by illness – especially cancer; those experiencing parental anxiety; and those working and studying in academic settings. I understand how overwhelming these experiences and settings can be, and I’m here to offer a calm, steady presence as you navigate them.
Therapy isn’t about having all the answers – it’s about creating space to explore what matters to you, with someone who’s really listening.
Practice description
I’ve built my practice working across a variety of settings including a cancer-focused support organisation, within the NHS, a domestic abuse charity and a sexual violence support service. These roles have given me the privilege of supporting people through some of the most difficult and vulnerable times in their lives. The training I have received means I work with a trauma-informed approach.
I work primarily in a person-centred way. This means I focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore your thoughts and emotions at your pace. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in uncovering your own answers and inner resources.
While my core approach is person-centred, I also have experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT offers a more structured and solution-focused way of working, which can be helpful when addressing specific patterns of thought and behaviour. If it feels appropriate, we can integrate aspects of CBT into our sessions to suit your needs and preferences.
My first session
I offer a complimentary initial 20-minute video or telephone conversation, where we can chat and you can see whether I feel like the right therapist for you. If you choose to move forward, we can then arrange ongoing sessions at a mutually convenient time.
Please get in touch to let me know what you are looking for and when you are available to chat. I will get back to you as soon as possible with my availability.
