About me and my therapy practice

鈥淲e don鈥檛 see the world as it is, we see the world as we are.鈥

鈥淗ow we think is who we are.鈥

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the understanding that much of our emotional life is shaped by unconscious processes, patterns of thought, feeling and behaviour that may have developed early in life and remain out of awareness, even as they continue to influence how we live and relate.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy creates a space to explore these underlying patterns with care and depth. Through regular sessions in a safe, confidential setting, we begin to examine not only what is happening now, but why it might be happening and what unconscious meanings and conflicts may be at play.

The aim of this work is to support a deeper understanding of yourself and your inner world. Over time, this kind of insight can feel freeing and empowering, helping you make more conscious choices, feel more emotionally connected and move forward with greater clarity.

Practice description

I offer a free brief introductory phone or Zoom call if you鈥檇 like to make initial contact. Many people find this first conversation helpful when deciding whether to begin therapy and there is no obligation to take things further.

I provide both in-person and online sessions. Some people value the flexibility and accessibility of working online, while others prefer the experience of meeting face-to-face. If helpful, we can also arrange a blended approach, combining in-person and online sessions to suit your needs and schedule.

I offer both short-term therapy, which can be helpful when focusing on a specific issue or time-limited difficulty, and open-ended therapy for those seeking a deeper, longer-term exploration. Sessions are usually held once a week at the same time each week.

My first session

In the first session we will explore what is causing you difficulties or concerns and think about what would be most helpful for you. It鈥檚 also an opportunity to get to know each other, ask questions and speak about any concerns you may have about therapy. There is no obligation to continue with therapy after the first session. We can also consider arranging a second session before deciding whether to commence regular therapy.

My philosophy

鈥淲e don鈥檛 see the world as it is, we see the world as we are.鈥

鈥淗ow we think is who we are.鈥

I believe our inner world shapes how we experience life and relationships. Often, unconscious patterns formed early on continue to influence how we think, feel and relate. Psychotherapy provides space to bring these patterns into awareness. At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that self-understanding is transformative: when we come to know ourselves more deeply, we can live with more clarity, freedom and integrity.

My first session

I offer a free brief introductory phone or Zoom call if you鈥檇 like to make initial contact. Many people find this first conversation helpful when deciding whether to begin therapy and there is no obligation to take things further.

I provide both in-person and online sessions. Some people value the flexibility and accessibility of working online, while others prefer the experience of meeting face-to-face. I offer both short-term therapy, which can be helpful when focusing on a specific issue or time-limited difficulty, and open-ended therapy for those seeking a deeper, longer-term exploration. Sessions are usually held once a week at the same time each week.

It鈥檚 completely normal to feel unsure about what you want or need from therapy. A first session offers the chance to talk through what鈥檚 brought you here, to reflect together on your concerns and to ask any questions you may have about the process. Many people find that this initial meeting is valuable in itself, regardless of whether they choose to continue.
