About me and my therapy practice
My work is relational, person-centred, and informed by humanistic values that recognise each person’s individuality and lived experience. I have a degree in Psychology and my post graduate training included integrating coaching into counselling practice so depending on whether my clients want to work in a more solution focussed way or keep things open ended, this can be accommodated.
I worked in Education for over 15 years in various roles. I chose to become a therapist because I wanted to develop and challenge myself both personally and professionally. I didn't feel that the progression routes within the field of Education were quite right for me as I didn't want to have more administrative responsibilities and become a manager - I wanted to take the best parts of working with individuals and groups in a classroom and find a new way of offering targeted support.
I have lived experience as a carer and am passionate about supporting those dealing with current health concerns or perhaps getting over a chronic condition. Through my work I have seen how so many people receive attention for their physical diagnoses but sadly the emotional and psychological toll that this can take on people and their families is not taken into sufficient consideration by the medical establishment.
People seek therapy for many reasons—grief, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, or when navigating life transitions. Sometimes there’s no clear issue, just a sense that something needs attention. Whatever brings you, I tailor our work to your needs and goals, using an integrative approach that supports emotional clarity, resilience, and meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
It is a privilege to hear clients’ stories and build a therapeutic relationship based on empathy, trust, and respect.
Practice description
I work with adults in person and online, offering a confidential and supportive space to explore a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns. Together, we discuss what’s important to you—your current difficulties, what may feel stuck or overwhelming, and what you hope will change.
I support individuals facing a variety of challenges, including stress, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and times of transition or change. You don’t need to have a clear label for what you’re experiencing—some people come with a sense that something needs attention, even if it’s hard to put into words. As mentioned previously, I offer support to carers and those with chronic health conditions.
My practice is grounded in a relational, person-centred, and integrative approach. I tailor our work to your individual needs, offering somewhere you can feel heard, understood, and supported. As I stated previously, I also offer coaching or a more solution based approach when required.
My first session
Prior to seeing a client, I offer a 20min phone consultation where we can have an initial conversation about what you feel you need and if we want to set up a face to face or online introductory meeting.
Our first session is an introductory meeting where we’ll explore what has brought you to therapy and discuss what you hope to gain. You can share at your own pace—there’s no pressure to say everything right away. This session is also your chance to ask questions and for us both to see if working together feels like the right fit.
If we decide to proceed, we’ll arrange future sessions at times that suit us both. My aim is for you to leave feeling heard, respected, and supported whether or not we decide to work together.
