About me and my therapy practice

It may feel daunting to reach out for counselling, but you don’t have to face things alone. I am Leanne, a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, and I offer a supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can share whatever feels important for you right now.

You may be coming to therapy because you’re feeling anxious, depressed, low or overwhelmed. You might be finding relationships or work difficult or struggling to come to terms with painful past experiences. Or perhaps you can’t quite put into words what feels wrong – only that something isn’t quite right. Whatever brings you here, we will work together to begin to make sense of your experiences.

I work psychodynamically, which means I’ll support you in gently exploring how your early experiences may be shaping the way you think, feel and relate to others now. Our sessions will give you a space to slow down, reflect and uncover what may be happening beneath the surface. Over time, this process can help you gain new insights, deepen your self-awareness and discover more compassionate ways of relating both to others and to yourself.

I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ registered counsellor and hold a PGdip in psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counselling. I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with over 15 years of experience working for the NHS in mental health research and therapy. I have worked with a wide range of clients, supporting people with issues such as anxiety, depression, low mood, eating disorders, addiction, identity, relationship problems, stress, neurodiversity, family issues, panic disorders and work issues.

I have also worked with Macmillan Horizon, providing counselling support to people living with cancer; with Victim Support, supporting those affected by crime; and with Age Concern, offering help to older adults facing a range of challenges.

I offer a space where you feel heard, supported and understood, so you can move towards change, healing and growth at a pace that feels right for you.

Practice description

I offer a warm, supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind. I believe the relationship between counsellor and client lies at the heart of meaningful change, so I place great importance on working together in a way that feels safe, respectful and collaborative.

My approach is psychodynamic psychotherapeutic counselling. In our sessions, we’ll reflect on both past and present experiences, exploring the challenges you’re facing and the patterns that may have developed over time. By looking at how early relationships and experiences might be shaping your current thoughts, feelings and behaviours, we can begin to build a deeper understanding of your difficulties and how they affect your life today.

Whether you are seeking help with a particular issue or looking for space for longer-term personal growth, I offer a safe and welcoming environment where you will be met with acceptance and without judgement. At the centre of my work is the therapeutic relationship we create together – one that allows you to reflect, explore, and move towards change at a pace that feels right for you.

My first session

At the same time, it allows me to understand your needs and think about how we might work together moving forward.
