About me and my therapy practice

While this section is called 鈥淎bout me and my therapy practice,鈥 my approach centres on you 鈥攜our experiences, your needs, and what you hope to gain from therapeutic counselling. The relationship we build together forms the foundation of our work.

So, where to begin?

Right here, where you are now.

You might know what you want to talk about 鈥 or you might not. You may only sense that something isn't right. That鈥檚 enough. That鈥檚 a beginning.

Take a moment to check in with yourself:

- What is your heart saying?

- What is your mind thinking?

- What is your body experiencing?

Whether your thoughts are clear or tangled, whether your feelings are loud or hidden, you鈥檙e allowed to start from exactly where you are.

It鈥檚 natural to feel daunted. Putting thoughts and feelings into words 鈥 especially the ones you鈥檝e hidden from others, or even from yourself 鈥 can feel overwhelming. Sometimes, it may seem like even finding the words is beyond reach.

But here's something important:

You鈥檝e already started.

By considering counselling, by taking this step 鈥 even just reading this 鈥 you鈥檙e moving towards change.
Towards understanding. Towards healing.

We鈥檒l go at your pace. I鈥檒l walk alongside you, offering support when you need it. I won鈥檛 rush you. You won鈥檛 be alone as you navigate this path, however uncertain or difficult it may feel.

You don鈥檛 need to have it all figured out.
Just take that first step and see where the path takes you. 

Practice description

When I started counselling, I had no idea there were so many different approaches. So if I tell you I鈥檓 a person-centred therapeutic counsellor, that might not mean much to you at first.

What it means is that you are at the centre of the work we do together. I believe no one knows your life, your experiences, or your needs better than you. My role is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore what鈥檚 holding you back from living a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

Therapeutic counselling is a collaborative process. It鈥檚 about exploring the parts of your life鈥攑ast or present鈥攖hat may be causing distress, pain, or confusion, and finding ways to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I鈥檝e worked with clients through The Road Victims Trust (a charity supporting those affected by fatal road collisions) and Pegasus 鈥 Men鈥檚 Wellbeing Centre. I鈥檝e supported people with a wide range of issues, including:

  • Traumatic bereavement 
  • Grief
  • PTSD
  • Domestic and childhood abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Physical and mental health challenges
  • Life's transitions

How I Work

I offer in-person sessions in a private room at my home in Toddington, as well as online and phone sessions. We鈥檒l work in the way that feels most comfortable and accessible for you, and I鈥檓 happy to adjust that as your needs evolve.

I also offer Outdoor Therapeutic Counselling in a risk-assessed outdoor location, for those who find it easier to talk while walking in nature.

I am happy to have a 20 minute, free of charge, no obligation, introductory phone call to answer any questions you may have. During this call we can establish what you would like to gain from having counselling and if you feel comfortable to begin working with me.
