About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about working affirmatively with neurodivergent clients and the LGBTQ+ community, as my own personal lived experiences give me insight into how different aspects of identity can impact mental health, daily life and relationships. I am happy to adapt sessions to meet your sensory needs. I offer a non-judgmental approach to help explore what your identity means to you and how you might discover and express more of your authentic self, while developing coping skills if you find this useful. Your identity might not be the focus of our work together, but it can be helpful to know that your therapist recognises and honours these parts of you.
Past experiences can shape how you think and feel about yourself, and your relationships with others. Perhaps you’re aware of difficult experiences that have stayed with you and affect your life in the present. Or perhaps you’re not sure when your struggles began but you have anxiety, low self-esteem or relationship issues. While trying to cope with struggles or find connection with others, we can get caught in patterns without fully understanding why and it can feel very hard to bring about positive change.
I hope to offer you the time and space to process your feelings and experiences. I bring warmth and curiosity and I believe that collaborative exploration is important, so that we might begin to connect with and heal the wounded parts of yourself, at a pace that feels right for you. I would love to be alongside you as you start to understand and accept yourself on a deeper level, hopefully feeling empowered to develop healthier relationships with yourself and others.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor I can adapt my approach to work with your individual needs and goals, although the therapeutic relationship is always central in the process. Being truly seen, heard and accepted in a safe space can be very powerful and healing, and this might be a new experience for many people.
My first session
It’s important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with, and it can feel like a big decision to make. I offer a free initial consultation of up to 30 minutes by phone call or online meeting, which gives you a chance to briefly talk about why you are seeking counselling and ask any questions you might have for me. This can help you get a sense of whether we might work well together, and to decide if you’d like to begin sessions with me.
