About me and my therapy practice
I’m a registered Íø±¬ÃÅ Counsellor with over 34 years of experience working in healthcare, social care, and education, offering specialist support to those affected by Epilepsy, Neurodiversity (including autism, ADHD, dyslexia), brain injuries, and heart conditions. My work includes one-to-one therapy, group sessions, and guidance for families, as well as training for professionals to improve awareness and care.
Living with epilepsy and neurodiversity can bring unique challenges. Epilepsy causes unpredictable seizures, which can be scary and isolating. If you also think and learn differently, such as with autism or ADHD, the world can feel harder to navigate. It’s common to feel misunderstood, anxious, or even traumatized by experiences like:
Feeling unsafe during a seizure
Being treated differently or left out
Constantly explaining yourself
The fear of the next seizure
These feelings can lead to emotional stress or trauma. I understand these struggles and am here to offer support. Together, we can find ways to help you feel safer, stronger, and more understood.
If you're a family member, partner, or friend supporting someone with epilepsy and neurodiversity, you might feel fear, helplessness, and emotional exhaustion. The stress of constant vigilance and the emotional toll of witnessing your loved one’s struggles can lead to secondary trauma. It’s vital to care for your own emotional well-being too. I’m here to listen, offer guidance, and provide the support you need without judgment.
You don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. Whether you’re living with these conditions or supporting someone who is, I’m here to help.
Practice description
In my private practice I offer one to one therapy, both short and long term. Working with people who have Epilepsy and Neurodiversity is my passion.
I believe therapy and counselling have a fundamental impact on someone’s life. I am skilled at helping people to cope with trauma and PTSD, experienced by having epilepsy and neurodiversity.
I also offer coaching around managing epilepsy, and neurodiversity. To have a space to work through long term issues surrounding having a condition. To unravel stress, anxiety, labelling, and fear.
Organisations I have worked for:
- Women’s aid: Southend on sea - working with domestic abuse survivors and child advocate
- NSPCC: Tilbury - National Society for the Prevention of Abuse of Children
Preventative work related to child view abuse (in the community)
- Family Action: Southend on sea
Case work looking after families in financial hardship
- Young Epilepsy UK as a Regional Support Coordinator for 10 Years (current position) working with families and children nationwide
