How Can Counselling Help?

Counselling increases our self awareness. Whether you are feeling stuck, have an important decision to make or are looking to work through a specific experience, finding the right person to talk to is a great first step.
Spending time in a safe, confidential and non judgemental space, can help you to look at things in a different light.
Finding the Right Counsellor
The therapeutic relationship should hold us in such a way that enables curiosity and discovery.
This is why it’s so important to find the right counsellor.
I offer a free half an hour initial session which gives us the chance to meet and to find out if we are the right fit for each other, with no obligation.
Your counselling journey is as individual as you are.

Some clients find they only need a few sessions whereas others find long term support beneficial. We can review our work together at an agreed time to make sure that you are getting what you need from the sessions and to ensure we are going at a pace that suits you.
I understand what it feels like to be anxious and to feel out of place in the world and I can truly empathise when clients express feelings of anxiety, loneliness, fear, or uncertainty.

What to Expect

My training was integrative, although I primarily use a person centred approach, especially when we start our sessions together. As our work evolves, we can bring in CBT techniques or Gestalt therapy which focuses on the here and now, bringing new awareness to whatever current issues you are facing.
I have a personal interest in neurodiversity, which partly came about through my own family’s journey to diagnosis. I work both with adults and young people, either in person from my counselling room on the Dartington estate or online.

Practice description
I work with adults and young people and have experience supporting students in secondary school settings. I have a particular interest in working with individuals on the autistic spectrum and with ADHD, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed.
Feel free to send me a message so we can explore how counselling can support you.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute initial session which gives us a chance to meet and discuss what is bringing you to counselling.
