Practice description
I offer one-to-one sessions with adults, working remotely and in-person in my tranquil therapy space in Digbeth, close to Birmingham city centre.
How I work
My relational, integrative approach to therapy uses gestalt, psychodynamic and cognitive approaches.
Gestalt counselling emphasises the importance of relationship and our moment-to-moment experience in the present. We notice and attend to what is happening in our bodies, such as our breath, and physical sensations like a lump in the throat, heaviness or tight feelings in your chest.
Using gestalt and psychodynamic approaches, we can explore how your past experience, relationships, environment, culture and family influence your experience and relationships in the present.
You will become more aware of patterns, ways of behaving and relating to others that you have developed in the past that are keeping you 'stuck' in the present, opening up the way forward to change.
I also offer cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based approaches to support practical changes and coping strategies in your present situation.
My first session
Initial Assessment
I offer a free 15-minute telephone or video consultation for a mutual assessment to see if we are a good fit. Your first full 50- minute appointment will involve a more detailed assessment and identify your goals in therapy.
Following the initial sessions to understand the current issues you are experiencing, we will explore how events and relationships in the past have shaped the way you respond to situations in the present. You will develop strategies for managing and regulating your emotions, become more aware of yourself and your choices, and build confidence and agency to make positive changes in your life.
I know it can be difficult to find the right therapist, and reaching out to make a start can feel daunting. I warmly invite you to get in touch.
