About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Keturah, a qualified children and young peoples counsellor and the heart behind Valued Voices Counselling. I’m passionate about creating a safe, welcoming space where every child and young person feels truly heard and understood.
Through gentle, child-centered therapy, I help children and young people explore their feelings, build resilience, understand how to navigate through challenging times and develop healthy ways to express themselves. I use an integrative approach in working with children and young people that blends play, empathy, creativity, and evidence-based techniques to meet each child exactly where they are.
I believe every child’s story matters — and I’m here to listen, support, and walk alongside them on their journey toward confidence and wellbeing.
Practice description
My approach is integrative, gentle, child-centered, and grounded in empathy. I combine evidence-based therapeutic techniques with creativity and play to meet each child where they are. Whether a child is navigating anxiety, self-harm, grief, family changes, or self-esteem challenges, depression, emotional challenges, my focus is on empowering them to feel seen, understood, and supported.
I believe that when children and young people feel truly heard, they gain the confidence to grow into their most authentic selves. My role is to walk alongside them on that journey — listening deeply, guiding gently, supporting them to understand who they are and holding space for their unique stories to unfold.
By using an integrative approach, each session is bespoke to the individual child or young person, using a mixture of resources from talking therapy, to conversation cards, games, art, sand tray play, role play to help each person express themselves in a way that is comfortable for them.
My first session
The first session would be a free 20 minute video call to meet each other and to have an initial conversation about the referral. We would then discuss what is happening for the child/young person and why they have made the decision to seek support.
I invite you to ask any questions you may have for me and if youd like a run through of my background and the way I work. I feel this is really important for my clients to know bits about me to help build the therapeutic relationship.
This gives both myself and the client time to get to know eachother. Following up after the initial video call I will send out an information/assessment form for the client or referrer to fill out before the first full session
