About me and my therapy practice
I am a therapist based across two locations in Yorkshire - Skipton and Roundhay, Leeds.
I work with clients of all ages and am comfortable helping clients with a full range of issues. I trained as an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a number of different theoretical models in my work.
I offer face to face sessions at my two locations and I'm also happy to offer online and phone therapy to suit the client's needs.
My core belief is that every client is unique: their individual worries, concerns, hopes and fears are theirs and theirs alone. That means I welcome every client with the same phrase: This time and place is yours to use as you need; I am here to help.
I offer a free 30-minute introductory session. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, get a feel for how we can work together, and decide whether counselling feels right for you before committing to ongoing sessions.
Practice description
Everyone has a different reason for visiting a therapist or counsellor.
Whatever your reason, entering counselling is a brave step. It can be difficult to walk through that door and open up about the things that may be worrying you or causing you pain. Just visiting this site takes courage.
Many of my clients come to me when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. They might be dealing with anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right.
I trained as an integrative therapist, meaning that I draw on a number of different theoretical models in my work. I do that because I think everyone is unique and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy, and there isn’t one model that will address everyone’s specific needs and personality.
I sometimes hear from my clients that they feel they are living someone else’s life, and have drifted away from their true selves. I firmly believe we all have it in ourselves to live fulfilling and satisfying lives; but sometimes we need a bit of help to find our way. That's where the right therapist can really help.
I work in a warm and collaborative way, and the focus is on developing a relationship with you. That means listening and understanding what's happening for you, leaving judgment at the door and working closely together - at your pace, and in a way that you're comfortable with.
Together, we’ll explore what’s troubling you, look at the patterns that might be shaping your life, and find ways to move forward with greater clarity and self-understanding.
That’s what a therapist does: offer a space for you to explore your feelings in a safe way, with acceptance, and no judgement. The ultimate aim is to work together to help you develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself, which is the most important relationship of all.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to feel a little unsure about what the first session will involve. My aim is to make the process as comfortable as possible.
With that in mind, your first counselling session is a gentle introduction — a chance for us to meet, talk about what has brought you here, and explore how therapy might support you. There’s no pressure to share more than you feel ready to, and many people find it reassuring to know that this time is simply for them.
If you’re wondering how to prepare, there’s no right or wrong way. Some people like to think about what they’d like to cover, while others simply arrive with an open mind. The most important thing is that you come as you are.
I offer a free 30 minute introductory call to prospective clients to explain how I work and whether we might be a good fit.
I use this time to get a sense of what the client might be looking for from therapy, and whether what I offer would be of use to them. This session is there to open the door to what therapy with me might be like, to understand their goals and hopes.
