About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative child and adolescent therapist working with ages 5-25 yo. My primary approach is psychodynamic which means I am interested in a client's inner world and encouraging them to share that with me through a variety of play, creativity and discussion. I am keen to help my clients understand themselves better and use psycho-education to help them make sense of their feelings and symptoms.
My approach is bespoke to each client - I pride myself in being able to attune and adapt to the individual needs of every client I work with.
I believe that the therapeutic space should feel safe and open and allow my clients to come and decide how best they can use the space. For me the relationship is key to the success of the therapy and I work hard to build a positive relationship with my clients and their parents.
Practice description
I am fully qualified integrative therapist, I trained with Margot Sunderland and have a PGDip from the Institue of Arts in Therapy and Education, a Diploma in Child Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Arts in Education.
From 2015 to 2023 I worked at Leaways Alternative Education Provision as the therapeutic arts practititioner.
From 2016 to 2024 I worked as a therapist at Rephael House, a low cost therapy unit working short and long term with children and adolescents. I was also parts of the contracted CAHMs team and worked in one of their outreach projects at Innovative Dance School.
I now work solely in private practice, I cover all aspects of mental health but have a special interest in children and young people who are neurodiverse and have developmental trauma.
My first session
I offer an initial 20 minute chat over the telephone for which there is no charge. If you are interested in coming to see me I then offer an assessment for up to 60 minutes for which I charge my standard fee of £75.
For children under 18yo I carry out the assessment with the parents. After the assessment we can decide together whether I am the right therapist for you, if you want to go ahead I will then meet with you if you are over 18 or your child. I conduct an initial review with you and your child as part of the 6th session at which you can decide whether or not to continue. There is no requirement to commit to 6 initial sessions but this is generally a good point at which to assess whether the therapy is likely to be helpful. If you or your child wish to stop the therapy before the 6th session that is of course fine.
If you are interested in working with me please send an email and we will find a time to chat.
