About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I鈥檓 Conor, a registered Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist. More importantly, I鈥檓 a person - just like you. I鈥檝e experienced life鈥檚 joys, challenges, messiness, and everything in between - maybe not so different from what you鈥檙e facing now.

I don鈥檛 believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy because no two people are the same, so I integrate various psychological theories and therapeutic approaches to tailor our sessions to what we feel is helpful for you and your unique experiences. To me, therapy can be a space for anything between serious work and humour but it isn鈥檛 rocket science 鈥 we're two people meeting, listening, sharing, and responding.

So, whether you would like to check in with me as the neutral person who will accept you for who you are, without judgement or expectations, offload frustrations, untangle any confusing messiness, or work towards your personal goals then you are welcome to drop me a message.

We can also explore the 鈥渄eeper stuff:鈥 past and present experiences or relationships that have shaped who you are now (including traumatic experience); own and seek to turn difficult experiences into self-awareness, self-compassion, and a personal strengths; or form new perspectives and helpful behaviours.

Whatever you鈥檙e facing, however you鈥檙e feeling, you are welcome. You don鈥檛 have to go through this alone, change is possible. You deserve to be content or reach your goals, we can work through this together.

I offer face-to-face or Walking & Talking/outdoor sessions in Swansea, and online sessions across the UK. My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, relational foundation, and I welcome both adults and young people (14 Y.O.+).

Lets have a chat

However you are, we can take the first step together with a free, informal chat over the phone or online - no obligations or expectations . You can get to know me and see how we can work through things together. Feel free to drop me a message or you can visit my website to book directly.

Practice description

My Approach

No two people are the same so I draw from a range of theories and models, tailoring sessions to what we feel is most helpful and meaningful for you. Therapy with me is not about ticking boxes, it鈥檚 about working together to uncover what works best for you.

We will do this together, grounded in trust and honesty, and I will weave in the theory and therapeutic exploration when we feel it is right and safe for you.

Some of the main approaches that I integrate include:

  • Humanistic / Person-Centred Therapy
  • Relational-Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Existential Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including third-wave approaches:
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
    • And aspects of Trauma Informed CBT (TF-CBT)
  • Psychological education:
    • I hold a masters in Psychology. When suitable, I weave in clinical knowledge that may give you insight into 鈥渨hy鈥 you have your experiences. This is an evidence based approach that raises self-compassion and self-awareness that can be used to explore more helpful thinking, beliefs, and behaviours.

Fundamentally, I work relationally because I believe therapy isn鈥檛 something done to you, it鈥檚 something we do together. That means I bring my real, grounded self into our sessions. Clients often tell me they value my consistency, predictability and honesty.

I believe that these relational conditions help build the foundational trust that allows for safe, genuine and helpful therapeutic work. I鈥檒l draw on theory and tools to support you and, when you are ready, I鈥檒l offer honest but compassionate challenges to shift what鈥檚 no longer serving you and explore new ways of thinking and living that align with who you are and what you want.

If you have made it this far, it is possible that something has resonated with you. I encourage you to act on that and get in touch - it鈥檚 time for yourself, and bit-by-bit we can work through this together.

My first session

Sometimes, it can take time to build trust within our therapeutic relationship. And that is totally fine. That may be because of past relationships that have left you distrusting of other people, you have felt judged or dismissed, or you feel that you have to wear a mask and show the world what it expects to see.

We we always go at a pace that feels comfortable for you, moment from moment, session to session. And with time, I do believe that we can establish trust so that you can come into your session and just be who you really are - without fear of judgement, dismissal, or harm.

I am a trauma-informed, trained and experienced therapist meaning that I prioratise our therapeutic safety and the construction of trust within our work together. This means that whatever is going on for you, from deeply traumatising experiences to current stress, I will always ensure that you are comfortable, grounded, and able to regulate your emotions prior to working with upsetting or challenging experiences.

Whether you dive into deep topics in the first session, or require 20 sessions to get there - that is okay. We will go at your pace, ensure that you feel safe and comfortable so that you can eventually just be yourself. You are welcome here.
