About me and my therapy practice

I believe no one has to stay stuck in the situations they find themselves in - there is hope and there is help. Sometimes life can feel small or overwhelming. You might feel caught in patterns of thinking or living that no longer fit, or something may have happened that’s changed the way you see everything.

If this feels familiar, I can help. I offer a safe, confidential space where you can talk things through, gain insight, and begin to move forward.

I’m a fully qualified, Íø±¬ÃÅ-registered therapist, trained in psychodynamic and trauma-informed approaches. I work with people age 18 and over, on a wide range of issues, including:

  • Trauma
  • Sexual assault
  • Birth trauma and pregnancy issues
  • Self harm
  • Addiction
  • Bullying
  • Boarding school experiences
  • Family relationships
  • Domestic abuse
  • LGBT+ concerns

You’re welcome to book a free 20 minute call to see if we’re a good fit.

Practice description

My main training is in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, but I also draw on a range of approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I work in a relational way, meaning that the connection we build together is an important part of the therapy itself.

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on how our early experiences and relationships shape who we are today - how we think, feel, and relate to others. Together, we’ll explore how these past influences might be affecting your present life, with the aim of helping you understand yourself more deeply and feel more at ease in the world.

Often, these patterns are unconscious - we might not fully realise why we react in certain ways or repeat behaviours that don’t serve us. In therapy, I’ll support you in making sense of these experiences, so you can gain clarity, feel more in control, and create lasting change in how you live and relate to others.

My first session

After you get in touch

I like to begin by offering a free 20 minute phone call. This gives us a chance to talk about what’s bringing you to counselling and what you’re hoping for. I’ll also explain a little about how I work, so you can get a sense of whether my approach feels right for you. You’re very welcome to ask any questions - this is your time to see how it feels to connect.

If it seems like we’d work well together, we can then arrange your first counselling session.

Your first session

Whether we meet in person in Brighton or online, this first session is a space for you to bring whatever is on your mind. There’s no right or wrong way to start - some people know exactly what they want to talk about, while others just have a sense that something needs to change. My role is to offer a calm, confidential space where you can begin to explore what’s happening at your own pace.

It’s also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and to see if the connection between us feels comfortable and supportive. If, after this first session, you’d like to continue, we can arrange your next appointment that is usually at the same time each week.

Your second session

In our second session, we’ll go through some brief paperwork and agree our counselling contract, outlining practical details such as confidentiality, timing, and payment, so that everything feels clear and transparent from the start.

After that, we’ll continue with your therapeutic work, exploring what’s important to you, at a pace that feels right.

Moving forward

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. You don’t need to have everything worked out before you begin; all you need is a willingness to start exploring what’s happening for you.

You’re very welcome to get in touch to arrange your free 20 minute call. There’s no obligation, just a chance to see if I might be the right person to support you.
