About me and my therapy practice
Reaching out for support can feel daunting. We often avoid our deepest fears and painful experiences, even when they continue to affect our daily lives. If you’re noticing emotional or behavioural patterns that are impacting your relationships, wellbeing, or sense of self, therapy can offer a space to explore and shift what no longer serves you.
My experience includes work in the NHS primary care sector, voluntary work for a local counselling service supporting clients of different ages and genders and working with survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. These experiences continue to inform and deepen my practice. I also bring the insight of someone who has personally experienced the transformative power of therapy. This has shown me how vital compassion, connection, and acceptance are in fostering personal growth - and why I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to the effectiveness of counselling.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in connection, empathy, compassion and respect. I aim to create an environment where you feel comfortable and safe, and you feel you can talk openly about your innermost feelings to someone with professional training, who will listen without judgment.
At your pace, you can share the parts of your story and experiences you would like to work through.
Practice description
Íø±¬ÃÅ
At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach. Every individual is unique - and so is every session. Once I have an understanding of your needs, I draw on a range of theories and experience to support you in working towards the changes you want to make.
We’ll work collaboratively to gently explore your thoughts and feelings, whether they relate to past or present issues. My focus is on understanding your experiences from your perspective, without judgment or agenda. By providing a safe and accepting therapeutic space, clients can begin to reconnect to their true self and experience positive psychological, emotional and behavioural changes in all areas of life. Together, we can work towards healing, clarity, and confidence - not just for short-term relief, but to support meaningful and lasting change.
My first session
Finding the right therapist is key to a positive therapeutic outcome. Prior to the first session I offer a free 20-minute consultation where I will ask you to give me a brief outline of what has brought you to therapy, tell me a little bit about yourself and what you feel is important for me to know about you. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions about the process and see if we are a good fit.
If you decide you would like to work with me, we can book in the first session, and I will send you the counselling agreement to read through.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and in the first session we have some practicalities to cover. Together, we will go through the counselling agreement and relevant forms, discuss confidentiality and expectations or experience of therapy. We will talk through what you’d hope for from the sessions and how many sessions you would like to initially book. I will explain how I work and what counselling can offer. It is important that you are clear and happy of how we are going to work together so we can build a relationship of trust, this will be the foundation of our work.
