I work on Mondays and Tuesdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Therapy sessions last 60 minutes and usually take place weekly. I also have a limited number of fortnightly slots.
I currently have availability for weekly therapy on Tuesdays at 2:20pm, starting in December 2025.
About me and my therapy practice
As a person-centred therapist, my aim is to create a therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard, valued and trusted, so that you can hear, value and trust yourself in return. I centre your voice and support you to tap into your own internal sense of what is right for you, so that you can understand yourself better and find your own solutions to your problems. I want you to leave therapy feeling empowered and better able to address the challenges you face.
I have an MSc (master's degree) in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. My training included several years of personal therapy, so I know what it's like to be a therapy client.
I've worked at Mind, in the NHS and in private practice with people of varied ages, genders, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have particular experience supporting people who have been through abuse, taking a gentle, trauma-informed approach. I also work with people who are anxious, depressed, stressed or just generally struggling with life or relationships. Together we can figure out what's going on and how to make things better.
I often (but not exclusively) work with LGBTQIA+ clients. I'm queer, non-binary (they/them) and affirming of all forms of gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. It's tough out there at the moment and I'll always be on your side, whether you want to explore aspects of your identity or something else.
Practice description
鈥淧erson-centred鈥 means that therapy sessions are essentially led by you, because I see you as the expert on your own life (though you might not feel like it right now!). I don't have a set agenda or structure for sessions. Instead, you can just start talking about whatever's on your mind. I'll focus on understanding what you share with me, accepting and valuing what you bring without judging or analysing you. I may offer my perspective or information that I think could be relevant to you, but I believe you're best placed to decide whether what I offer is useful.
The most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between client and therapist, so it's important to me that I'm genuine and open with you. I don't put on a professional front: I allow my emotional responses and personality to come through in our sessions, while maintaining my focus on you. You can ask me questions at any time and I check in with clients regularly to make sure that therapy is working for you.
I take an anti-oppressive approach to therapy, which means that I consider how experiences of discrimination (such as sexism, racism and disablism) and your wider social context may have played a role in what you bring to therapy.
I'm committed to making my practice accessible and do my best to adjust to your needs. Please see my website for more information on accessibility and my approach to therapy.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to get a feel for how I work, so you can decide whether I'm the right therapist for you. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, what you hope to get out of it and what you can expect from me. At the end, we'll reflect on how the session has been. You can then decide to book in again or go away and have a think about it.
I offer an optional 20-minute introductory phone call free of charge so you can get to know me and ask any questions before booking your first session. Please get in touch if you'd like more information, to arrange a call or to book an initial session: I'd love to hear from you!
