About me and my therapy practice
While attending counselling with myself, you’ll be gently encouraged to share your reasons for coming to counselling – I will not lead the session, rather I am there to support you and your counselling journey.
Many clients, with no prior knowledge of counselling, believe that the counsellor will take responsibility for their reasons for coming to therapy, fixing things for them. I am here to help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.
I will support you to realise what resources and support are available to you that you can use to work through your own issues, build your self-confidence and appreciate that you always have options. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you.
I will not judge you, no matter what you bring to the session. This helps build a trustworthy relationship in which you can feel free and supported to disclose whatever is troubling you. Eventually it will lead you to discover your own abilities and feelings of self worth, so that you can cope with current and future problems.
Practice description
Soul Sanctuary Counselling is a quiet & peaceful place of calm. My therapy room is based at my home address, were you will be welcomed and made to feel at ease during your counselling sessions.
My first session
I offer a no fee 20 minute face to face/telephone/online introductory session, where you can explore how Soul Sanctuary feels for you and ask any questions that you may have about the counselling process and how I work.
At your first session we talk together to assess where you currently are and how you are feeling. This should not take too long and then we work together on what you would like to bring to the session as well as looking at any goals that you may have.
