About me and my therapy practice

Hi I'm Rahim, I am a trained person centred counsellor. This modality, fits well into my personal philosophy of life. That the individual knows what is best for them, that sometimes we all need a safe non judgemental space to be able to explore our own experiences.

To be able to have our own thought processes without interruption or fear of judgement.

From my own personal journey of therapy, I have been able to understand myself and come to my own conclusions. It was refreshing to be able to be heard, to explore my own feelings without them being invalidated.

Through that personal liberation and empowerment of therapy I was inspired to train myself as a person centred therapist, and in turn to be able to offer that liberating non judgemental space to others.

Many of us have difficulty confronting our own cultural and identity conflicts. I know what it was like to navigate two worlds, one within the family home and one outside the front door.

Along my journey I learnt the importance of belonging, which led to major life changing decisions. These ultimately led to finding that internal safe and secure place within me and in society.

I’ve had to work through and therefore understand the stressful paths my own life took in order to arrive at a place of hope, forgiveness and self acknowledgement and acceptance.

I am now able to offer others that space which was offered to me.

Ultimately it is down for all of us to put in ‘the work’, and I will be delighted to accompany you on your journey.

Practice description

My role is to walk alongside and accompany you in your therapeutic journey, to actively listen and acknowledge how you are feeling, occasionally reflecting and summarising things you say within a non judgemental space. Not to tell you what to do or how to feel.

My aim is to facilitate the exploration of your experience, thoughts and feelings, so that you may gain a deeper awareness of the issues that brought you to counselling.

I believe that through this process, it can provide the potential to move forward.

My first session

During our first session we would explore your reasons for seeking counselling and your goals and expectations from counselling.

I will go over the contract and privacy policy with you, I will answer any questions you may have around these and we can make amendments based on your needs where applicable.

From that point I will hand the session over to you, as it is your space and we will take it from there.
