About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Carol Gledhill, a warm and compassionate person-centred counsellor, here to support adults who may be struggling with life’s challenges. I came into counselling later in life, following my own experiences with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, and domestic abuse. These experiences led me to develop a deep understanding of emotional wellbeing and a strong desire to help others. After completing my diploma in therapeutic counselling, I found my true calling in walking alongside others as they make sense of their past, explore their present, and shape a more fulfilling future. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply in need of someone to talk to, I’m here to support you on your journey.

Practice description

Trauma

I offer trauma-informed counselling and am a certified mental health first aider and suicide first aider. I am especially attuned to working with women who have experienced childhood trauma, domestic abuse, and workplace challenges. I strive to create a space where you can reflect, heal, and understand your emotions without judgment.

I support individuals who are experiencing CPTSD, PTSD, OCD, domestic abuse, separation and divorce, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, rejection sensitivity disorder, menopause, work-related issues and attachment disorders.

Menopause

I am dedicated to helping women navigate the challenges of menopause. The symptoms and changes that women experience can profoundly impact self-esteem, confidence, and performance. I offer support through my person-centred counselling approach, incorporating CBT exercises that have proved to be effective in managing these symptoms.

Neuro-affirming Counselling

In my practice, I specialise in supporting individuals navigating late diagnoses of neurodivergence or those exploring the possibility of being neurodivergent. I have a particular passion for helping those on their journey of unmasking and embracing their true selves. I recognise how complex these experiences can be, especially for those who feel they’ve spent years adapting to societal expectations, and I am here to walk alongside you as you reclaim your authenticity. There can also be an overwhelming feeling of grief for what might have been and this can take some time to work through and unpack these feelings in order to move forward.

I can help with coming to terms with your diagnosis, explore whether you want to disclose your diagnosis, explore a new way of being and coping strategies for life as a neurodivergent person.
