About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Vicky, thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

I am a woman, a mother, a wife, a therapist, a Muay Thai and animal lover. Working in the Education system for 2 decades, I found my true calling supporting others with playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. Together we can create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore and make sense of your world.

I am a Trauma and Abuse Specialist and have worked in a variety roles prior to becoming a therapist. These roles have included extensive work in Domestic Abuse, Sexual Abuse and Suicidal ideation. I am a qualified Integrative counsellor and creative therapist and use these to treat Problems in relationships, Childhood trauma, self-harm, Eating disorders, self-esteem, work-related issues, Anger management, Addictions, Stress, Anxiety and Depression.

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and have completed the Post Graduate Dip Teens in Counselling with a focus on an Integrative Approach using the arts. Some might find it difficult to express themselves in words, my training has equipped me to use a variety of techniques such as: sandtray, emotion cards, clay, painting, drawing, puppets etc.

I was born in South Africa and moved to the UK in 1999. Further to this, I am also a trauma-informed practitioner.

How I work, is that I will offer you a space to explore yourself safely, whilst I get to know you, what has happened to you and how you manage yourself emotionally in the present day. I am looking to support moving you towards a space of being consciously connected to the self as well as more self-aware.

I welcome working with those from all cultural identities and backgrounds and strive to offer a space of complete acceptance with no judgment.

I hold an enhanced DBS, have regular supervision and attend ongoing CPD.

Practice description

What to expect, is that I am not light in the ways in which I work. Each individual is unique, with their own story and experiences which shape them. My role will be to sit alongside you, providing guidance, safety and support as we navigate your struggles together. I believe that therapy is based on an intersubjective experience where you see your experience through mine. No one knows you better than you do. It’s ok not to be ok. I will provide you with the tools you need, supporting your empowerment and trust in yourself, to help you process past experiences and move forward with your life.

I offer therapy, that is deeply connected to self-governance. To reach that destination, for most of my clients, some obstacles are in the way. Being authentic to this process, we leave no stone unturned.

If you are a victim of Domestic Abuse or have lived with abuse in your environment, I will teach you about the impact and separate you out, from the abuse that has been administered.

Parents of teenagers. Please be aware that I will not have contact with any parent of a teenager that I am working with, except to arrange sessions and payment. I uphold the ethical provisions of therapy, and unless there is a significant risk of harm, I will not be feeding back the content of sessions to any parents or referring teenagers.

Please note I operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a 50% fee, although I am understanding of emergencies.

There is free parking on the street outside my practice.

My first session

I offer a complimentary introductory 15-minute call to ensure I am the right therapist for you. Following this, I would meet you face to face for your first session to gain a better understanding of the issue you would like support with. This is £60. I am a Registered Therapist with the Íø±¬ÃÅ. I will ask that all sessions are paid upfront, either by bank transfer or cash.

All sessions are 50 mins long and cost £60 per session. - The first session of therapy will be a comprehensive assessment and a getting-to-know-you session as well as formulations of care and treatment plans. This session is with the client alone.
