About me and my therapy practice
The Inside Work
My email: theinsidework@hotmail.com
About me:
Hi my name is Siwan, or Sue if you find that hard to pronounce.
I have worked a wide variety of jobs from being a beauty therapist to a group facilitator in a prison setting. All my work has been around wanting people to feel better. Initially started on the outside but has now grown to looking on the inside.
I have used counselling myself a couple of times to help me through hard times, this resulted in me becoming one myself.
Two phases I go by since becoming a counsellor: ‘Own your stuff’ thanks to my tutor Jeff Young and ‘trust the process’ which in line with Carl Rogers theory.
How do I work?
As a person-centred counsellor, no one knows you better than yourself.
I will work alongside you to find what has worked in the past, and what you would like to do different in the future.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I will mainly be working through the Person-Centred modality, but I can introduce CBT skills (thoughts, feelings, behaviours) or DBT skills (Mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerant, interpersonal effectiveness) to the session when required.
Being integrative allows me to blend ideas from each model to create a therapeutic style that is as unique as you are.
I am flexible with the number of sessions I can offer. I will work around your needs, so this could be 6 - 10 sessions, or longer if required.
I offer weekly and fortnight sessions through phone or video calls.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ) and my practice follows their Ethical Framework. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate and I am insured with Holistic.
Do I speak Welsh?
Yes, I am first language Welsh. You can choose to have your sessions in either Welsh or English or both if preferred.
