About me and my therapy practice
I offer an active, problem-solving approach tailored to your specific needs. My work is practical, creative and focused on helping you make sense of what鈥檚 going on and take steps forward. I鈥檝e blended my training in counselling, coaching, emotional logic, occupational therapy and NLP into a flexible framework that supports real-life change.
Together, we鈥檒l explore what鈥檚 happening beneath the surface and identify what鈥檚 getting in the way. Sessions are collaborative and hands on鈥攄esigned to help you build strategies that fit your life and strengthen your ability to respond with clarity and confidence. You don鈥檛 need to have the perfect words or a clear plan. We start where you are and work from there.
I focus on equipping you with lifelong tools鈥攏ot just insight, but action. You鈥檒l leave with a personalised Change Toolkit: practical skills, emotional understanding and strategies you can use long after therapy ends. These tools support emotional regulation, clearer communication, boundary-setting and future resilience.
My approach suits people who want to actively engage with change, not just talk things through. I work with adults of all ages, including carers, professionals, students and neurodiverse clients. Whether you鈥檙e navigating work stress, caring responsibilities, study pressures or personal challenges, I offer support that adapts to you.
I have experience supporting adults with a wide variety of difficulties, concerns and needs. I鈥檝e worked in mental health services for years with people facing depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, stress, relationship issues, personality disorder diagnoses, new motherhood, caring roles, university adjustment, people pleasing, addiction, trauma, self harm, bereavement and low self-esteem. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and have extensive experience supporting people with neurodiversity, as well as parents of young people who struggle to attend school or are navigating the EHCP process.
Practice description
What you can expect from me are sessions that are structured, collaborative and focused on what matters most to you.
We鈥檒l work together to clarify what鈥檚 happening for you, explore your understanding and concerns, and identify what鈥檚 getting in the way of choices, progress or change. Alongside we will be building knowledge, skills, strategies and new understandings that you can use outside of therapy, in your real life.
I bring a practical mindset to emotional work. That means we don鈥檛 just talk, we actively explore, reflect and work with a variety of tools that help build your knowledge and skills to move forward. You might come with a specific problem, a sense that something鈥檚 not right, or a decision to make. Whatever the starting point, we鈥檒l begin where you are and work at your pace to build clarity, understanding and confidence.
My approach is adaptable and always centred on you. I draw on over 25 years of experience across the NHS, university wellbeing services and private practice. I combine my methods and training in integrative counselling, occupational therapy, NLP coaching, emotional logic and mental health mentoring. This flexible mix, means that I have a lots of different ways to work with you and allows me to match your needs, pace and priorities. Sessions are rooted in respect, curiosity and care, with space to think, feel and act. You will leave with strategies you can use beyond the therapy room, tools that support emotional regulation, clearer communication, practical decision making and choice. The aim is not just to feel better, but to be better equipped for whatever comes next, with skills and insights you can draw on for growth, life and moving forward.
My first session
My first session
If you鈥檇 like a free 30-minute initial phone call, please get in touch. We can talk about what you need, what you might like to get from the sessions, and any questions you have about how I work. You can get a sense of if I am the right person for you to work with- it has to be right for you! If you鈥檙e happy to go ahead, we can then arrange your first appointment.
Once we鈥檝e agreed to work together and confirmed a time and place, we鈥檒l complete a brief counselling information form. We鈥檒l also agree on some key foundations to help the work feel safe and clear鈥攕uch as confidentiality, boundaries and how we鈥檒l manage any risks.
The first session will focus on getting to know each other a little more and understanding what brings you to therapy. I鈥檒l listen carefully to your concerns and what you hope to gain from the work. Building a relationship of trust and mutual understanding will be central to everything that follows.
I鈥檓 happy to offer short-term work focused on a specific issue, or longer-term support if that鈥檚 what you need. We can talk through what feels right for you and review this as we go.
