Utilising up-to-date assessment tools and evidence-based strategies, I collaborate with you to identify and achieve realistic objectives. My aim is to help you realise your therapy goals in the shortest time frame possible while respecting your unique journey. I equip you with tools to leave therapy confidently, continuing to build on your strengths independently.
I utilise varied strategies, tailoring each session to meet your specific needs. My approaches include Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Human Givens Approach, Mindfulness, Gestalt. The relational counselling model I employ is based on IMAGO therapy, which focuses on relational growth and healing, helping you connect at a deeper level.
I specialise in addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, reduced confidence, relational issues, and supporting those feeling stuck or discouraged. Additionally, I provide therapy for addiction and motivational challenges related to health, diet, sleep, exercise, and pain management.
Practice description
Goals and Outcomes
In our therapeutic journey, the primary objectives are to foster personal growth, enhance emotional wellbeing, and develop effective coping strategies. Clients can expect to achieve:
• Increased Self-Awareness: Gain a deeper understanding of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, leading to greater self-acceptance.
• Improved Coping Skills: Learn practical techniques to manage stress and emotional challenges.
• Enhanced Relationships: Develop healthier interpersonal dynamics and communication patterns.
• Goal Achievement: Identify specific, measurable goals tailored to your needs, allowing for progress tracking.
• Resilience Building: Cultivate resilience to bounce back from setbacks and approach challenges positively.
Therapeutic Environment
I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental atmosphere where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions.
Key aspects include:
• Safety and Confidentiality: Prioritising privacy to ensure open sharing without fear of judgement.
• Empathy and Support: Actively listening and validating experiences to foster trust.
• Comfortable Setting: Providing a conducive environment for open dialogue, whether in person or online.
• Collaborative Approach: Establishing a partnership that empowers clients in their healing process.
• Respect for Individuality: Tailoring my approach to meet each client's unique needs and preferences.
Personal Philosophy
I believe in a holistic approach that nurtures the inter-connectedness of body, mind, and spirit. I also believe we are all connected. The therapeutic relationship is a collaborative journey where empathy and trust create a safe space for exploration. I draw from Imago philosophy to understand and heal relational patterns in all relationships, establishing tools like active listening, mirroring, empathy and validation to foster deeper connections. My goal is to empower clients to cultivate these skills, enriching relationships and overall wellbeing.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation where we can discuss your needs and discern if I am the right Counsellor for you. If in the case we see you may benefit from a more specialised/qualified Counsellor I can then sign post you if you wish.
If we agree to continue I will sent the appropriate paperwork to read, agree and sign. This keeps us both safe in our collaborative work and meets insurance requirements.
First Session with Individuals:
The first session will be where we discuss needs/goals and begin a thorough assessment. Utilising the information gleaned from this personalised feedback, we can then create a plan to address any issues and work towards your therapeutic goals. Regular reviews of our work will occur at agreed intervals, this helps us to make sure we are on track to where you want to be.
First session with Relationship pairs/Couples:
In our first session we will discuss and agree a 'relationship vision' and agree a contract. I will then proceed to teach you the structure of the Imago Dialogue. Once we have undertaken this, we will endeavour to work within the boundaries of this model, promoting a safe space to really discuss pending issues, be really heard and so, build a deeper and more meaningful connection.
