About me and my therapy practice

"Hi, I'm Gemma, and I run Kaleidoscope Counselling. I chose this name because I believe that during difficult times, our natural colours can become muted. The world can feel like a silent film – we go through the motions, but lack the joy and fulfilment we once had. It's not uncommon to feel lost, overwhelmed, worried, or anxious without understanding why.

I firmly believe that with the right counselling support, we can reassemble our broken pieces in a new way and see the world in glorious technicolour again. That's where I come in. As a creative, person-centred counsellor, I believe each client is unique, and I tailor sessions to meet your individual needs. I aim to be affordable and flexible, working with your schedule and budget as much as possible.

My passions and specialties include:

- Working with individuals who are neurodiverse or exploring the possibility

- Supporting those who've had previous therapy experiences that weren't helpful

- Helping individuals manage stress, anxiety, and fear that's impacting daily life

- Offering Christian counselling for those who want to explore their faith and mental health in a safe, non-judgmental space

With 25 years of experience working with young people, including CAMHS referrals, I'd love for you to learn more about how I work. Take a look at my website, and feel free to schedule a non-pressured, 15-minute chat. It's a great way to get a sense of how we can work together.

Practice description

" I aim to create an environment where you, the client, are in the driving seat and feel seen, heard, and in control. My priority is to always offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and understood. My professional and lived experiences can help you to feel more comfortable in your own skin, developing positive thoughts about yourself and an acceptance of who you are and to realise your own potential.

You can develop strategies to manage strong and deep emotions such as sadness, anger, and feelings of despondency. I can support you in managing anxiety and fear, and exploring difficult relationships, helping you feel less overwhelmed.

I have experience of delivering lots of creative ways within the counselling room to help you explore these emotions in a safe way. Creative counselling does not mean being artistic; it means being willing to explore together different ways of listening to your own body. I am able to offer sand tray and stone tray work, mindfulness and imagery work, and other forms of creative outlets to support working through your emotions.

For more details and pictures, please visit my website or give me a call.

My qualifications are as follows:

A Level 5 in Counselling.

A Diploma in Mindfulness, and a Degree in Theology."

My first session

"I know that for some clients, counselling can be very daunting as you are meeting a new person for the first time. I aim to make the first session as relaxed as possible, and a time to get to know each other. I will invite you to ask questions and explain my commitment to you as a counsellor."
