About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes it’s hard to feel like there’s space for you.
Maybe you’ve been holding it in for a long time – managing alone, keeping things together, putting others first. Therapy can offer something different: space to breathe, reflect, and feel seen. A place where what’s going on for you matters too.
Whether you’re facing anxiety, grief, trauma, or just feeling stuck, I offer a space to talk and be heard. You don’t need to have the words yet – what you’re feeling is valid, and it’s welcome here.
my name is Sarah, I’m a Person-Centred Counsellor offering confidential, inclusive therapy with a calm and grounded approach. Before retraining, I worked in the NHS for many years as a specialist paramedic, supporting people through some of the most vulnerable and uncertain moments of their lives. That experience continues to shape how I work—with empathy, clarity, and a steady presence. My own experiences of living with C-PTSD, navigating identity, and managing mental health challenges have also informed the kind of space I aim to offer—one that is respectful, compassionate, and open to whatever you bring.
Therapy with me is grounded in calm, respectful presence.
You’ll find a steady space to speak freely, without judgement or pressure.
Practice description
In my practice, the relationship is central. I work from a Person-Centred perspective, which means I trust in your capacity to grow and heal when offered the right conditions—empathy, acceptance, and genuine connection.
Sessions are led by you: your pace, your priorities. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out, and no expectation to be anything other than who you are in this moment.
My approach is grounded, collaborative, and attentive. I bring a steady, thoughtful presence to our work together—offering space for reflection, exploration, and emotional safety.
My practice welcomes difference and honours the richness of identity in all its forms. I bring particular insight into the challenges that can come with being yourself in a world that doesn’t always make space for that—whether through navigating identity, living with the impacts of trauma, or managing long-standing emotional pain. These lived experiences shape the space I offer: one of empathy, steadiness, and respect, where you are free to show up just as you are.
My first session
Before we meet, I usually suggest a brief phone call so we can lightly touch on what you’re hoping for from counselling, and I can give you a few more details about how I work.
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I’ll go over a few practicalities—what I sometimes call the ‘housekeeping’ part—and there’ll be space for you to ask any questions you might have. This part usually takes just a small portion of the session, and I offer a reduced fee to reflect that.
The rest of the time is yours. Many people begin talking about what’s brought them to counselling, while others prefer to start slowly. There’s no right or wrong approach—what matters is that it feels okay for you. This first meeting is also a space for you to get a sense of whether counselling feels like a good fit, and whether I feel like the right counsellor for you.
