About me and my therapy practice
I believe we are continuously shaped by our environment and experiences. If we understand of the roots of our issues and develop understanding of new or alternative ways of being, we can choose to effect change at any time in our lives.
Clients come to counselling for many different reasons. For example a young person may be a victim of bullying in school or they cannot stop procrastinating when under pressure, a parent might have concerns about their teenager's anxiety or depression or anger and they are at a loss as to what to do next. A young adult may be finding work stressful or they believe their ADHD is an obstacle to progress, to name a very small number.
Some clients can talk easily while others appreciate the use of tools that help to frame and organise thoughts; some clients seek listening from their counsellor, others like to feel the counselling relationship is more dialogic and some appreciate being challenged. I tailor the experience, in collaboration with the client, to suit each unique client.
Practice description
I work with parents and young people (together and separately) as well as young people and adults who experience relationship struggles in partner, family, social, school or work situations.
I canhelp you discover and explore the sources of your anxiety or depression, how your early attachment relationships have shaped later relationship patterns and how you can change take agency in relationship with others and change negative patterns in ways to help you feel better moving forward.
I draw on relational and humanistic therapeutic models as well as personal and professional experience to create a tailor made thereapeutic experience for each client.
