About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in 2023. I have been trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy which is one of the Humanistic therapies. My work has a focus on raising awareness of patterns and adaptations, often formed in our early years to keep us safe, but may be now holding us back from finding fulfilment in life. This can be through talking but also has the scope, if it feels right, to use creative elements to enhance self-discovery. Awareness of our feelings and sensations, how we hold onto tensions in our bodies and what this can tell us. It is also a relational therapy, so focus may be on how we cocreate a mirror of the dynamics that you may wish to change.
I have come to this work later in life following a happy life working in the woods as a Coppice Merchant. When the physicality of that work became too much, I decided to retrain and I have been so fortunate to find something that is so fulfilling as Gestalt therapy.
Practice description
Each session is an hour and when we have met and feel comfortable to proceed, I have a contract which we both sign. This details my commitment to you around holding the boundaries of the work and the space we meet in. It includes my commitment to confidentiality and approach to any safeguarding concerns. The contract also asks for an element of commitment from you, to keep your appointment times where ever possible and to give notice of an intention to end therapy so we can manage this in the best way possible.
My first session
I offer a 15 minute free phone call to discuss practical details and answer any initial questions. Do feel free to ask for this if that would be helpful.
