About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and accredited Systemic Family and Couple Psychotherapist (MA) with over 25 years鈥 clinical experience working therapeutically with individuals, couples and families, of all ages, both within the NHS, & via my own private practice, having founded the independent relational psychotherapy service, Oxford Family Therapy.
As a specialist relationship therapist, I support those facing challenges in couple or family relationships such as regarding communication & conflict, sex & intimacy, infidelity and trust, parenting & life transitions, or domestic abuse, separation or bereavement. I also support those wishing to develop a deeper sense of connection, intimacy & closeness with the important people in their lives.
Keen to embrace gender, sexuality & relationship diversity, I work with couples & families of all kinds. My practice is strengths & resilience orientated, collaborative, & underpinned by the latest evidence based principles.
Fully insured to offer a world wide service remotely.
Alongside my independent practice, as UKCP Media Spokesperson, I'm frequently invited to contribute to the national & international media, including The Guardian, The Telegraph, iPaper & Metro etc, providing expert opinion on a range of topical relational psychotherapy matters. I am also Trustee of the domestic abuse charity Clean Slate & guardian of Support Through Court.
Committed to providing the highest standard of care, I am a fully accredited membership of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the Association of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (AFT) & the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (网爆门).
I understand how hard it can be to find the right type of therapy, and therapist for you. I therefore include responses to FAQs, info re. systemic psychotherapy & client reviews, all of which are accessible here: https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/therapist/Katherine-Cavallo-RqDJSAA3

As an independent psychotherapist, I initially worked with the Oxford Priory Wellbeing Centre before founding the independent systemic psychotherapy service, Oxford Family Therapy. My first session
How it works:
Feel free to connect with me via oxfordfamilytherapy@gmail.com, providing a few details about what brings you to therapy and what type of therapy you are seeking. Providing a sense of your availability is most helpful, so we can ensure to find a suitable appointment schedule that will work for all involved. We will then get back to you regarding recommendations about starting therapy and a timeframe for this.
Some people choose to have a set number of sessions then review, whereas others choose to continue until collaboratively coming to an end point, once they feel they have reached a suitable outcome.
I support people to use the space in between appointments as opportunities to reflect on and integrate the therapy 鈥渨ork鈥 into their everyday lives and relationships, in order to gain optimally from the overall process. From my experience, meeting fortnightly/biweekly, enables this most effectively.
The number of sessions people feel they need varies considerably depending on what people are hoping to gain. In some instances, a handful of sessions can make all the difference, whereas others choose to meet with me longer-term.
