About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am Russell a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and founder of Woven Counselling.

At the heart of Woven Counselling, I believe in offering a therapeutic experience that is as unique and individualised as each person who walks through my door.

Woven Counselling draws on the multi-layered aspects of therapy. A process of exploration and the unravelling of the many tightly woven threads of life that can cause challenge and conflict in our self.

These threads include our own unique experience of childhood and the forming of early relationships, as a young person the process of forming a unique identity and seeking where we belong, and as an adult a culmination in all that has gone before that shapes our view of the world and the here and now.

I offer a safe space to examine these layers. Through various therapeutic techniques you can begin to untangle and reframe thoughts and reactions. Fostering a sense of order from what may have initially felt like overwhelming chaos. Clients often gain clarity, learn coping strategies, and develop healthier ways of interacting with their thoughts and emotions, ultimately reducing anxiety and distress.

This journey is unique for each person as you navigate the intricacies of your own mental and emotional landscape. The therapeutic process allows for the gradual construction of a more cohesive and resilient self, moving from confusion and fragmentation to integration and peace.

Practice description

It’s perhaps no surprise that after 25+ years in teaching and educational leadership - focusing on pastoral care and safeguarding - my second career as a counsellor is centred on working with children, young people, and adults exploring their early life experiences.

I have experience of counselling children and young people in schools, colleges and private practice as well as working with adults in a number of local charities and private practice.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space, in a tranquil and private studio in a wooded enclave in my garden on the Kent, Surrey border. I also work from this private space with clients online.

In reading this you have already begun your journey, if you would like to take the next step with me, please do not hesitate to make contact. I offer a free no-obligation telephone conversation, where I can go into a little more detail about the way I work, and you can ask any questions.
