About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Debbie, an Integrative Therapist. I believe the most important relationship you'll ever have is the one you have with yourself. Gaining insight into how your mind works and learning to shift unhelpful thinking patterns can be life-changing. With the right support, tools and understanding, it's possible to feel more grounded, experience greater happiness and reduce stress, anxiety and overwhelm.
Some of the common problems I support people with are: anxiety, over-thinking and worry, depression, trauma, overwhelm, slow burnout or the stresses of everyday life. Together, we can make sense of where you are now, explore the patterns that may be holding you back and develop the tools you need to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Our minds are just as important as our physical health, yet we often overlook their care. Learning how to look after your mental and emotional wellbeing is a powerful investment in yourself.
I can help you build practical, personalised coping strategies to help you: feel more in control and step into your power with a renewed sense of determination, courage and commitment to living your life in a way that feels good. I’ll support you in developing lasting emotional resilience so you can meet life’s ups and downs with strength, adaptability and self-compassion.
If you're ready to understand yourself more deeply and create meaningful change, I’m here to help you take that next step towards healing, growth and the life you want to live.
Practice description
I offer a blend of counselling and coaching on-line to support individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, self-doubt and burnout. My approach is both supportive and forward-focused helping you understand what’s holding you back while also empowering you to move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
If you live in or near Sedgefield, I offer walk-and-talk therapy sessions for those who feel more comfortable in natural surroundings. Being outdoors can ease the pressure of face-to-face conversation and help you feel more grounded. Whether we're walking side by side or sitting in a peaceful space, you'll have time to reflect, reconnect and explore what matters most to you.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation which is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, for me to learn a little about what you're looking for, and for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me.
The first session, and often the first few sessions, is about understanding the difficulties that have brought you to therapy.
If you want to feel prepared, it can be helpful to consider the following questions ahead of your first session:
– Think about what has brought you to therapy – why now?
– Do you have any specific worries or concerns that you would like help with?
– What are your goals for therapy?
– How would you know if therapy was successful for you?
Don’t feel like you need to have everything figured out. Some people come to therapy because they want to give it a go, explore the patterns of their mind or work on being the best version of themselves. Others come to therapy to work on something specific.
