About me and my therapy practice

Íø±¬ÃÅ

With a Master’s degree in Integrative Psychotherapy, my training involved extensive self-reflection. This process was transformative for me, and I believe therapy can be the same for you. I integrate various therapeutic approaches, meaning your counselling is tailored to your unique needs. Understanding why we think and behave the way we do can be the key to making lasting change.

Life’s challenges can leave us feeling lost, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the future. You may find yourself struggling in relationships, facing life changes, experiencing work-related stress, repeating destructive patterns, or feeling stuck in a place you never anticipated. These experiences can be disorienting, but they also present an opportunity for change. Together we can work to untangle the complexities of your past experiences, unresolved conflicts, and thought patterns that may be harming your mental health. My time counselling NHS staff provided extensive experience in addressing issues such as trauma, conflict, and burnout. I understand the pressures of highly stressful environments, and together we can develop strategies to manage stress and restore balance.

Teaching A-level psychology with adolescents strengthened my interest in how the COVID pandemic impacted young people, who were ‘locked down’ during a crucial stage of their emotional and social development. My research highlighted that many young people’s mental health has not only been significantly affected by the lockdowns, but that they now struggle to talk about how they feel, and are possibly hiding their emotions from family and friends. The research reinforced how a non-judgmental space for processing emotions and experience through therapy is essential for everyone.

My role is to listen, I won’t tell you what to do but will offer you a new perspective to help you navigate your life. I will help you to unravel experiences, emotions, and patterns that you may find painful and may be holding you back.

Practice description

Íø±¬ÃÅ

Everyone is unique, & therapy should reflect that. As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to fit your individual needs, combining various therapeutic methods to make your therapy truly personal. What works for one person might not work for another. These include psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a person-centred approach, and narrative and systemic theories. You may have a clear idea of what you hope to achieve in therapy, or you may still be figuring it out (which is fine).

I can help you with: Abuse, Addiction, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Life transitions & change, Menopause, Mood disorder, OCD, Parentification, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexuality, Stress & burnout, Suicidal Ideation, Trauma, & Work related issues.

Psychodynamic therapy argues the importance of our history to see how it influences us now. Often attachment to our parents or caregivers in childhood can lay down patterns of how we later see the world. There may be things that you’re not aware of that are painful that are keeping you stuck. However, we are not bound by our history. Talking about our past can help us understand how we feel now, explain why we behave in different ways, and show how this may affect our relationships in the present. It’s about getting to the root of the problem to create long-lasting change.

Trauma can create unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. CBT helps highlight harmful & useful thought patterns and behaviour. Adapting harmful thoughts helps to build resilience and emotional strength. When you understand the cause of your concerns or the triggers of your behaviour, you can  improve your mental health & life.

My first session

“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.” Brené Brown

A taster session to meet me

It is natural to feel nervous meeting a counsellor for the first time. It's important that you feel comfortable with me. To allow you to explore whether I am the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 25 minute consultation online. This allows you to ask any questions that you may have & is an opportunity to experience what it will be like to work with me.

Your first session

Your first appointment will involve an overview of how you are  feeling at this moment in time and to determine what you would like to attend counselling for. We can discuss the number of sessions you may need. You may have had counseling before and we can talk through what worked for you and what didn't. This will help ensure we find the most beneficial way for you to use each session.

â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹Subsequent sessions

The number of weekly sessions you attend will depend on our progress together, which we will regularly review to assess your needs. Some people opt for 6 to 8 weeks, while others choose to continue for a longer period. You are free to end counselling at any time, and we can work together for as long as you require.
