About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative (psychodynamic-existential) psychotherapist. Practising psychodynamically, I believe that patterns in our ways of being and attachments from childhood tend to be unconsciously replicated into adulthood and that through curious exploration, with a non-judgemental, compassionate other, we can be liberated to understand ourselves on a deeper level and move towards living a life more aligned to our values and desires.
As an existential therapist, I feel strongly that the rich tapestry of life and complexities of human existence cannot possibly be reduced to any theorem or model. My aim is to come alongside your experience, your unique life situation and suffering, to support you to live a life you find most meaningful and true to you.
I believe that deep wisdom (as well as trauma) is held in the body and in the importance of mind-body integration for emotional wellbeing. Through my many years working as an NHS doctor, I developed an insight and appreciation for the various ways that psychological and emotional distress can be expressed and communicated through our bodies. And, although I have been trained to diagnose and work with many different mental health conditions, I work through a lens that aims to explore and understand the root cause of symptoms, what they mean for you and how they impact your life.
Most importantly, I practise relationally, meaning that each relationship that I have with my clients is unique and the strength of the therapeutic relationship is a fundamental component to the work itself.
Practice description

I offer regular, weekly, 50 minute sessions, and, although I do short-term work, it is my preference to work in open-ended, long-term therapy as I believe that this is where lasting change and improvements are most likely to be found.
