About me and my therapy practice

The foundation of my work is person-centered therapy and this is how I work practically with clients, however, I also draw on insights from Psychodynamic Theory, Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis to inform my work. This integrative approach allows me to view my clients through multiple lenses, enhancing my ability to support their unique journey.

Person-centred therapy is a humanistic approach that places the individual at the centre of the therapeutic process. By creating a supportive environment, offering unconditional positive regard, and practising empathy this approach aims to empower clients to find their own solutions and to cultivate personal growth and healing.

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes once a week and are on an open-ended basis; with length varying from client to client depending on the nature of the work and the issues we are working with. During each session, it will just be you and me in the room. We use a non-directive approach, working at your pace, and allowing you to lead the conversation. We explore your thoughts and emotions freely, whilst working together to establish themes in history, patterns of behaviour, and whatever else may emerge.

Practice description

My counselling practice, Perfectly Human Counselling, is based in the beautiful parish of St. Pierre du Bois. Being based in the countryside provides a perfect rural escape from the busy-ness of everyday life, a space where you can take ample time-out to concentrate on you and your wellbeing, with the support of a qualified Counsellor. There is dedicated parking on-site.

At Perfectly Human Counselling, our mission is to provide unwavering support and foster a non-judgmental, safe environment for all. A place in which you are safe to be authentically you and grow in the process.

We offer both face-to-face and online therapy, working on a 1:1 basis with people on a diverse range of issues including those outlined below.

My first session

During our first meeting I will perform a counselling assessment. This is a crucial first step in the counselling process and it involves a comprehensive evaluation to understand your unique issues, background, emotional and mental wellbeing, needs and expectations from the counselling journey we may be embarking on together.

The cost for the initial assessment session is £20. If we decide to work together going forward, this amount will be deducted from the cost of your first formal counselling session (refunded back to you).
