About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and counselling in Notting Hill and Bayswater.
If you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lost or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, I can support you to explore the unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are holding you back or getting in the way of living a more fulfilling life.
It can feel strange and daunting starting therapy but it's also the gateway to change, growth, and importantly, the support that makes you feel less alone.
Many of my clients come seeking help with anxiety, feelings of low self-esteem, unworthiness or lack of purpose, relationship challenges, difficulties processing traumatic events and adverse childhood experiences, a recent bereavement or challenging life transitions. My role is to help you bring clarity to your situation and explore new ways of dealing with troubling issues and limiting self-beliefs, so you can relate to yourself and other people in a more open way.
Practice description
Finding the right therapist is a personal and important choice and you should feel comfortable and safe with the therapist you see.
Research demonstrates that the most effective therapeutic outcomes are based on the quality of the relationship between client and therapist and I place great value on building a compassionate and trusting relationship with my clients. My style is warm and collaborative. Whatever you are facing, I will work with you to help you face your difficulties in a supportive and confidential space where you can speak freely and feel truly heard.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on various psychotherapeutic approaches, including humanistic theories, attachment theory and trauma informed models, which I tailor to suit individual client needs.
I am also an accredited yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and have been practicing yoga for over 30 years and teaching for 15. I believe in the integration of mind and body – our life experiences are held in our bodies as ‘felt senses’, which are often unconscious but when brought into awareness can help clients unlock painful experiences, built up tension and lethargic energy. Yoga has helped me navigate and manage challenging times in my own life and I use some tools, such as breath awareness, grounding and relaxation techniques to help my clients.
I work with a range of clients from different backgrounds and across different age groups. I offer face-to-face long-term psychotherapy to support deep inner change and short-term counselling to help you cope with specific issues, meeting in-person in the Notting Hill and Bayswater area or online.
I am fully insured to practice and am a registered member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and follow their professional code of ethics.
My first session
Prior to working together, I offer a free 15-minute initial telephone conversation. This is a confidential conversation to understand what has brought you to therapy and how I might be able to help you. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and find out if I am the right therapist for you.
Our first session will give you the opportunity to discuss your situation in more depth and share what you would like to achieve through therapy. We will also discuss how we can best work together to achieve your aims.
Sessions last 50 minutes, meeting once a week at a regular time. The rhythm of regular weekly meetings helps to create a stable arena for change.
