About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Connor — a qualified person-centred therapist (PGDip), registered with the Íø±¬ÃÅ (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy ).

If you’ve found your way here, I’m guessing you’re facing a difficulty in your life and are exploring whether therapy might help. I hope this page gives you a sense of how I work and whether I might be the right fit for you.

About Me
Before becoming a therapist, I spent five years working in homelessness services, mostly with young adults. This involved supporting people facing complex, overlapping challenges — trauma, substance use, mental health difficulties, anger, domestic violence, money problems, depression and isolation. These experiences helped me understand how different everyone’s lives are, and it led me to explore becoming a therapist; I wanted to be able to just focus on how the struggles someone is having in how they experience life.

I'm professionally qualified, with around two years of counselling experience. I’ve worked with people facing stress, anxiety, relationship problems, grief, depression, big life changes, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, caring responsibilities, trauma, loss, and more.

I have worked with a bereavement service and a charity supporting carers, both of which I enjoyed.

Practice description

I work from a person-centred perspective*, which means I see you as the expert on your own life. And my role is to offer sessions where we can explore what’s going on for you - in your own time and way.

Whether you come with something specific in mind or aren’t sure where to start, we’ll work together to find the right path.

As a person-centred therapist, I see our sessions as a shared process. Sometimes I might notice something and share it with you — a pattern, a feeling, or a shift in our conversation — and we’ll see together if it feels meaningful or not. Other times, you might do the same, so we’ll follow and learn what feels important.

I will also look to notice how we’re being with each other in the session, because sometimes how you respond to me might mirror how you experience other people in your life, or how you imagine others experiencing you. There may also be moments in which we misunderstand each other, and part of person-centred therapy is exploring these natural moments of two people trying to communicate.

My intention is to create a space where you feel supported to explore and make sense of things at your own pace — with someone who’s here to listen, stay curious, and treat the work with the care and importance it deserves.

*If you haven’t explored the different kinds of therapy out there, I’d encourage you to read a short summary of the main types. It can help you choose an approach that feels like the right fit for you.

My first session

The Sessions
Some people come for a short time to process something specific; others stay longer to explore more widely - it’s up to you.

I try to check in regularly to see how things are going — what’s feeling helpful, what’s not, and whether anything needs to change in how we’re working together.

Sessions are held online or by phone. Each one lasts 60 minutes, with a few minutes at the start and end to settle in and wrap up.

Pricing
I offer a free 30-minute introductory session to get to know you and see if we are interested in working together.

To make therapy more accessible, I offer a sliding scale, allowing you to choose the rate that fits your situation. You choose the rate that fits you— no need to provide proof of your circumstances.

• Low Income Rate – £15/session

For those who may otherwise struggle to access therapy. (Limited to 25% of available slots)

• Standard Rate – £40/session

The regular rate that reflects the true cost of therapy. (50% of slots)

• Supporter Rate – £65/session

For those with higher financial flexibility. Paying this rate helps subsidise access for others. (25% of slots)

• Sponsor a Session – Pay It Forward +£15

If you're in a position to contribute a little more, you can sponsor a session for someone on the low-income rate.

- Each £15 donation covers one session for another client.

- I let the clients know if their session has been sponsored and will try to distribute these fairly — based on things like how long we’ve worked together, the number of free sessions given, and their openness to receiving this kind of support.
