About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Jade. By looking at my profile you have already taken a huge step. I understand that life's challenges can be difficult to navigate, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward, but you don't have to struggle alone. Together, we can untangle what’s weighing you down and navigate the challenges you’re experiencing, helping you to find clarity, relief, and a clearer path forward.
As a therapist, I focus on building a real connection with you, offering a space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. I help individuals who are facing all sorts of difficulties and challenges. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, stress, family issues, loss, trauma, low self-esteem, or simply feeling stuck. I’m here to help you make sense of it all. No issue is too big, too small, or too complex.
I also support clients in navigating the lasting impact of trauma. When trauma isn’t resolved, its emotional, psychological, and physical effects can linger, shaping how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others. I recognise that trauma is not only an emotional experience but can also be deeply held within the body, manifesting as distress, physical tension, or a sense of disconnection. I address this in my work and provide a supportive space to explore your experiences helping you to process and release what’s been held within.
Our work together will be collaborative, safe and supportive, allowing you to explore aspects of yourself in a way that feels right for you. The space I offer is yours, to be led by you and what you need.
It is important you find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. Contact me for an initial 15 minute session (no charge). Together, we can break things down, explore whats going on for you, and find a way forward.
Practice description
I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ registered, Hertfordshire based Counsellor and Psychotherapist, working from locations in both St Albans and Wheathampstead.
Everyone's preference for counselling is different. I offer sessions either face-to-face or online and we can discuss the options available to decide which one feels right for you.
I can offer a set number of sessions or open ended, longer term counselling, depending on your needs.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are typically weekly. To provide consistency in our work, you will ideally be able to commit to a regular appointment slot. This regularity allows us to build the therapeutic relationship required to support you effectively. However, I do understand that this may not always be possible and I am happy to discuss a more flexible way of working that works for you.
Our work together will be reviewed periodically, as your needs may change as the therapy progresses.
My counselling approach is person-centred and built on creating a warm, empathic environment, where you can feel valued for who you are. I believe therapy can help to enhance growth, bringing about meaningful change, and I am committed to working alongside you as you navigate this process.
I have additional training in trauma informed practice and have experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns.
I accept payment via cash, credit or debit card and BACS transfer.
My first session
It is normal to wonder what to expect from therapy and to feel some apprehension. There my be many feelings coming up for you and I welcome you to share these.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other in a comfortable and confidential space. I will spend some time to introduce myself and make sure you feel at ease by answering any questions you may have. Good therapy is all about the relationship we are able to build and it is therefore important you feel comfortable with me as your therapist.
We would have already had an initial introduction call prior to your first session but I will be interested in finding out more about you, your needs and what has brought you to counselling at this specific moment in your life. There is no pressure to share anything that may make you feel uncomfortable and I will work very much at your own pace.
We will also have the opportunity to negotiate how we will work together. This will involve open communication and collaboration between us to establish a therapeutic approach that best suits your needs and preferences.
Prior to the first session you'll be sent all the necessary documents & information you'll need regarding confidentiality, ethical boundaries, how I work & session fees/ payments. This means the first session can be all about you and what you need from therapy.
I also include an initial assessment document for you to give me as much or as little information as you'd like.
