About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Ebru. I’m an MÍø±¬ÃÅ-registered Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I work with adults who want to better understand themselves and create meaningful change, whether that’s finding relief from distress, making sense of repeating patterns, or exploring deeper questions about identity, belonging, and growth.
How Therapy Can Help
When troubling thoughts or feelings keep returning, it can be hard to know where to begin. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and discover why you might be struggling as well as exploring how things could be different. Together, we might explore:
- Past experiences that continue to shape you.
- Thoughts, feelings, and behaviours you’re grappling with now.
- Fears, dreams, and aspirations for the future.
This process can help you feel more grounded, authentic, and confident, allowing you to inhabit your life and relationships with more presence and in a way that feels true to you.
Practice description
My Approach
My work is humanistic, relational, and integrative, drawing on Gestalt, Person-Centred, and Transactional Analysis approaches. In practice, this means:
- I aim to understand you within the context of your history, environment, and relationships.
- I offer a warm interest in your emotional wellbeing and a non-judgemental space where we work collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.
- I believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in discovering more of yourself and shaping a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to you.
Specialist Interests
While I work with a wide range of issues, I have particular experience and interest in:
- Difficult interpersonal relationship dynamics (personal, professional, and familial).
- Shame, anger, and anxiety.
- Intergenerational trauma and its impact on identity and relationships.
- Cultural and cross-cultural identity, including experiences of marginalisation.
My Values
Alongside my psychotherapy training, I’m influenced by ideas from philosophy, sociology, and politics, which help me consider how personal struggles are shaped by wider cultural and social forces. I believe context matters, we don’t live in a vacuum, and I approach our work with openness, respect, and curiosity about the complexity of your experiences.
My first session
In our first session, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and how we might work together. We can agree a fixed timeframe or work open-endedly, adjusting as your needs evolve.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and are held at the same day and time each week.
I offer sessions in Enfield and Hackney Wick, as well as online. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to ask questions or check my current availability. I look forward to hearing from you.
