About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Helen. Perhaps you're struggling with low energy or anxiety, or feel stuck, overwhelmed or confused. You may have had a recent challenge in your life such as a loss or relationship issue. Maybe you don’t know what caused your struggles. Or perhaps you’re simple curious.
I offer a safe and confidential space to explore and make sense of your thoughts and emotions, and what it means to be you. I work with your experience in the present and can also help you to identify connections from your past, which may be impacting your relationships with others, or with yourself. This can reveal choices for how you live in the future.
I became a counsellor because I want to help others have better relationships with themselves and others. I trained in counselling after more than 15 years in the legal profession working as a patent attorney, so am familiar with high pressure working environments.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I use different approaches depending on what you find useful. I will always go at your pace. My training in Psychosynthesis offers a transpersonal perspective, meaning that I work with you to address your practical, real-life challenges whilst also acknowledging a spiritual aspect of existence.
Practice description
I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone call or video call so we can see if working together feels right. I will ask about your reasons for seeking therapy at this time and your intentions for therapy. I can also answer any of your questions.
The initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. Our relationship is fundamental to the therapy and so it is important that we feel comfortable together. I aim to provide a space where you feel safe and understood.
If you decide to proceed with regular therapy, we will usually meet at the same time each week, for 50 minutes. Our working agreement will cover confidentiality, data protection, attendance and payment.
Ethics
I am registered with the Íø±¬ÃÅ and practice under the Íø±¬ÃÅ's Code of Ethics. I hold professional insurance, and also engage in regular supervision and continued professional learning. Our work is confidential, and I manage your data in line with GDPR. I work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and stand for inclusion across gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture, class, religion, and opinion.
