I work with clients on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. My first session begins at 9.30am and my last session of the day starts at 7 pm.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer face-to-face therapy in the Lady Bay area of South Nottingham and also provide online sessions for anyone in the U.K. In line with the evidence base for the efficacy of Person-Centred therapy, I work with clients on a one session per week basis, although I am flexible with this and have clients that I see fortnightly or monthly. Sessions last 50 minutes. I work with open-ended contracts, meaning that the client decides the length of our work together and can choose to end at any point.
Practice description
I practice Person-Centred Therapy, influenced by Carl Rogers’ 1959 theoretical work on positive personal change. This approach is based on the belief that lasting, meaningful change happens when individuals come to recognise their own agency and personal sovereignty through accepting themselves as they truly are.
Clients come to me when they are seeking solutions to negative or disruptive experiences or struggling with patterns of behaviour that impact their well-being and relationships. My practice is non-directive, meaning you determine the focus of our conversations. My role is to create a safe, trusting space where you feel genuinely heard and supported. Through this process, you may begin to see yourself in a new light, allowing for deeper self-acceptance. As this self-acceptance grows, meaningful and lasting changes can take place—changes that come from within and align with your authentic self. A positive outcome of this process can be the reduction of negative or distressing feelings such as anxiety and depression. Here is a link to some current research into the effectiveness of Person-Centered therapy to help with anxiety and depression. (bit.ly/43ejvw8).
My first session
Choosing the right therapist is an important decision—one that requires trust and a sense of connection. To help you determine if I’m the right fit for you, I offer a free 30-minute introductory session. This session allows you to explore your reasons for seeking therapy and ask any questions, including those about costs and session frequency.
During your first full session, we’ll establish a verbal agreement outlining boundaries and expectations to ensure a safe and effective working relationship. From that point forward, you decide what we discuss, with me providing the support and space for meaningful exploration and growth.
